The next impressive milestone to celebrate here at Jerky Ingredients is 700 jerky reviews published to date. We had been for the most part consistently publishing three jerky reviews a week. With Paul, Stephane, and myself holding down full-time jobs, we just recently moved down to publishing two reviews a week. As mentioned in the past, reviewing jerky is a marathon and not a sprint.
There was a time about five weeks ago that we did not think we would make it to 700 jerky reviews. Our web site was inadvertently upgraded, and caused large parts of the functionality to stop working. There were times when I was just ready to concede defeat, and pack it in with the web site and call it a day. However, that did not sit well with me. I managed to bore down one weekend, and finally identified the root of the problem. About 60 hours later of fixing old deprecated code, and I had about 99% of the web site back up and running. In hindsight, I had nobody else to blame but myself for not realizing that the code I had been using since 2013 would no longer be supported when we upgraded to PHP 7 in 2019. In any case, you live and learn, and the jerky reviews live on.

The Jerky Shrine continues to be a work in progress. Just this week the Jerky Shrine Closet received its first baseball cap from Jeff’s Famous Jerky, and a rare one as mentioned by Jeff. While we still have plenty of jerky inventory to review yet, later in 2019 I am going to focus on getting more jerky paraphernalia added into the Jerky Shrine. A goal set aside for 2019 is being forced to add a new Jerky Shrine Cork Board #3.
