This bison jerky price update is our second published post since 2023. As with all jerky price updates, several jerky brands could no longer be tracked. The main reasons include the jerky maker going out of business, a jerky brand no longer selling jerky bags online between 1.75 ounces and 4 ounces online, and a company may still be in business but stopped selling bison jerky but only a few this update.
We treat bison and buffalo as the same, even though they are not. There are two kinds of bison, the American bison and the European bison, and two forms of buffalo, water buffalo and cape buffalo. Both are large, horned, oxlike animals. Bison have a hump at the shoulders, while buffalo don’t. Buffalo tends to have larger horns than bison.
All jerky makers in this bison price update are from the United States and sell bison jerky online in bags of 1.75 to 4 ounces. In the 2023 Bison Jerky Price Update, 30 bison jerky brands were tracked. Of those 30 bison jerky brands, only three jerky brands lowered their prices in 2024. In this 2024 Bison Jerky Price Update, I doubled that amount, expanding this 2024 Bison Jerky price update to 60 bison jerky brands.
The price of bison jerky increased by 32 cents per ounce in 2024.
