It took about eighteen years to accumulate 1,800 jerky shrine bags. Our recent 2024 New Jersey trip helped us get over 1,800 bags with forty-seven jerky bags accumulated on that trip, a decent jerky haul. Of those 47 jerky bags, 27 new jerky brands were introduced to this jerky review website, with many not reviewed yet. We have been steadily publishing two jerky reviews a week since the second half of 2023. Read More
30 Jerky Types
It took us a little over eleven years to review 30 Jerky Types. When I started this jerky review website in 2014, I did not even know there were 30 jerky types. Now I know there are over 40 different jerky types, possibly 50, excluding fruit jerky. Finding a new jerky type is always exciting, especially if you have never tried it before. Using the term jerky can be disingenuous. The most Read More
Creating a Jerky Review
While a few other jerky review websites have popped up over the years, only two active ones exist worldwide, and both have an information technology background. Steve Johnson from www.bestbeefjerky.org started reviewing jerky in 2008, and I launched jerkyingredients.com in 2014. While Steve is still the world leader in reviewing close to 400 jerky brands, we may Read More
350 Jerky Distributors
It took us a little over eleven years to review 350 jerky distributors. Normally, the jerky manufacturer is also the jerky distributor. With that said, it is not all that uncommon to see private labelers manufacture jerky in the jerky industry. Every year, the gap slowly widens between the number of jerky brands that we have reviewed and the number of jerky distributors. As of this writing, we have reviewed 368 jerky brands. Read More
450 Jerky Shrine Brands
It took seventeen years to accumulate 450 jerky shrine brands. Our recent 2024 New Jersey trip got us closer 1,800 Jerky Shrine bags and shot us over 450 Jerky Shrine Brands with 27 new jerky brands being introduced. My next trip to the USA will be to California in May 2025 for my mother-in-law’s 85th birthday. If any jerky maker is interested in submitting their jerky on that trip, email us at jerkyingredients@gmail.com. Read More
2024 New Jersey Trip
My wife Stephanie (Birdie), son Joshua, and I’s trip to New Jersey to visit my wife’s cousin’s family was a success over the holidays. This time, seven of the eleven jerky maker submissions came through, although one arrived on the day we left. In total, 47 unique bags were accumulated, introducing 27 new jerky brands and three new jerky types (shark/alpaca/cod). This was my first time back in New Jersey since 2019. Read More
$9,000 Jerky Reviewed
It took almost eleven years to review $9,000 worth of jerky. The biggest complaint that people have about jerky is that it’s expensive. While there are cheaper brands of jerky out there, good quality jerky can be expensive. Keep in mind that jerky loses 50% to 75% of its weight due to moisture evaporating during the drying process. Of course, the best way to get around the expensive price of jerky is to make your own Read More
100 Kilograms/100,000 Ounces Jerky
It took nearly eleven years to celebrate this milestone, reviewing 100 kilograms/100,000 grams of jerky. One kilogram of jerky works out to exactly 1,000 grams of jerky between the imperial and metric systems. In this case, we have reviewed 100 kilograms, which means we have also reviewed 100,000 grams of jerky. For the record, one kilogram is equal to 2.2 pounds. Read More
1100 Jerky Tags
It took us over ten years to celebrate creating 1100 Jerky Tags here at www.jerkyingredients.com. For the record, there are 72 jerky categories, where WordPress has a limit of around 100 categories. As a basic description, a Jerky Tag is descriptive, and a Jerky Category is generalized. Jerky tags are unlimited in the popular web content management system WordPress. Read More
2024 Jerky Price
As part of our annual commitment to update the cheap, average, and expensive prices in the jerky industry, we introduce our eighth annual 2024 jerky price ranges update. In total, 22 jerky types’ price ranges were updated. Not one single jerky type had a lower price in 2024. Every jerky type went up in price except for tuna jerky, which remained the same. Using the one pound of beef jerky price as an example, since 2020 Read More
