Bubba MoSho Jerky is a family-owned business specializing in handcrafted beef jerky made from 100% USDA-certified beef. Their products are marinated in small batches and processed at an SQF Level 3 facility, the highest certification from the Safe Quality Food Institute, ensuring top-notch quality and safety. Customers have praised Bubba MoSho Jerky for its exceptional taste and quality.
The origins of Bubba MoSho Jerky trace back to the late 1970s near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where George Mosho, a U.S. Marine and engineer, began experimenting with beef jerky as a hobby. This passion was passed down to his son, David, who added his own twist to the flavors and marinating techniques.
During the pandemic, David revived this family tradition, sharing the jerky with coworkers and gym members in North Charleston, South Carolina. The overwhelmingly positive response led to the official launch of Bubba MoSho Jerky in late 2022. By March 2023, their products were featured at the Historic Charleston City Market, bringing their small-batch artisanal jerky to a broader audience. This Bubba MoSho Jerky brand is distributed under the same name as Bubba MoSho Jerky, and it is located in Charleston, South Carolina.
The next review on Bubba MoSho Jerky will focus on a 2.5 ounce/71 gram bag of their Low Country Original flavored beef jerky. This flavor is described as having a strong Worcestershire and black pepper blend. The jerky was graciously submitted for review by Owner David Mosho.
Ingredient Review
Ingredients: Beef, Worcestershire Sauce (Distilled White Vinegar, Anchovies, Garlic, Molasses, Onions, Salt, Sugar, Water, Chili Pepper Extract, Cloves, Natural Flavorings, Tamarind Extract), Garlic Powder, Black Pepper, Onion Powder, Paprika, Cumin, Cayenne Pepper.
The beef used is not guaranteed to be free of growth hormones or additional antibiotics. Also, the beef is not guaranteed to have at least partial free range access to graze on grass. As a result, the highest ingredient rating that can be awarded is a Good (8/10) rating.
The only liquid marinade used here is a well-respected brand of Worcestershire sauce.
We have an interesting blend of healthy ingredients added with garlic powder, black pepper, onion powder, paprika, cumin, and cayenne pepper.
The sugar level is acceptable at 2 grams of sugar per 28 grams of jerky. The salt level is very low at 160mg of salt per 28 grams of jerky.
This jerky does qualify to have no sodium nitrite or any other similar unhealthy preservatives. Instead, the main preservative used is salt. Admirably, there is no MSG added.

BUBBA MOSHO JERKY – LOW COUNTRY ORIGINAL BEEF JERKY
Written by guest jerky reviewer Paul Rekker
When I open the bag I smell what seems like vinegar. The pieces vary in size, and they are sliced thin to medium. The jerky is dry and medium rigid, and no oily residue left on your fingers handling this jerky.
When I bite into the jerky I taste decent salt, minimum sweet, decent pepper, garlic, onion, and the vinegar I mentioned earlier. I also detect a faint kick to this jerky.
I am unclear as to what the term “old country” implies. Maybe they are referring to our forefathers, but this jerky isn’t quite rigid enough to qualify for that. However, it is pretty tasty, and I am very much enjoying this flavor. It is closest to an original flavor, as advertised, but with a more diverse taste experience.
I can find nothing whatsoever wrong with this flavor of jerky and, therefore, am comfortable with awarding this flavor a 10/10.
Here is what Mark had to say about this Low Country Original beef jerky flavor from Bubba MoSho Jerky: “Thanks Paul for the honest taste review. I too cannot find any issues with this flavor. This flavor is exactly as advertised as having a strong blend of Worcestershire sauce and black pepper. Plus, a well-respected brand of Worcestershire sauce is used, which is not cheap from a price perspective.”
“The blend of spices used accentuates an interesting tasting flavor. Kudos to Bubba MoSho Jerky for not adding any additional sugar. There is indeed a slight kick to this flavor, which seems out of place for an Original flavor. While I am kind of torn between a 9 or 10 rating due to lack of some ‘wow’ factor, at the end of the day it does not matter. With Paul at a 10 and myself between a 9 and 10, an Excellent (10/10) taste rating will be awarded.”
This 2.5 ounce/71 gram bag of jerky sells online for $8.00. That works out to $2.80 an ounce, which rates as a cheap price.

Bag Review
This black, resealable plastic bag has labels affixed to the front and the back. The Bubba MoSho Jerky logo has the head of an angry looking bull.
A slogan could be “Charleston’s Favorite Beef Jerky”. The only fact printed on this bag is “Low Country Approved”.
Some missing bag categories are no blurb printed about Bubba MoSho Jerky or this flavor and anchovy allergen alert. A QR code is displayed on the back.
