Boozy Jerky – Peppered Stout Beef Jerky

Friday, July 4, 2025 Leave a Comment

Boozy Jerky - Peppered Stout Beef JerkyBoozy Jerky is a distinctive beef jerky brand that artfully combines tender cuts of meat with the rich flavors of craft beer and spirits. Founded in 2018 by two seasoned entrepreneurs with backgrounds in private label jerky production for wineries and breweries and direct-to-consumer jerky subscriptions, the company set out to create a product that stands apart from traditional offerings. Rejecting the idea of producing another generic jerky, they focused on innovation, infusing their products with unique alcoholic flavors to enhance the snacking experience.

Each variety of Boozy Jerky is marinated for 24 to 48 hours in carefully selected craft beers or spirits, such as pilsners, IPAs, lagers, or bourbon, and then seasoned with complementary spices. This meticulous process results in jerky that is not only flavorful but also tender and easy to chew. Notably, while real alcohol is used in the marination process, the final product contains no residual alcohol, making it safe for all ages. The jerky is also gluten-free, high in protein, and suitable for various dietary preferences, including keto and paleo diets.

Boozy Jerky delivers a premium product that appeals to both meat snack enthusiasts and craft beverage aficionados by focusing on small-batch production and using locally sourced craft beers. Their commitment to quality and innovation has positioned them as a unique player in the meat snack industry. This Boozy Jerky brand is distributed under the name Boozy Jerky, LLC, and it is located in Otsego, Minnesota. The jerky is manufactured by Boyd Specialties, located in Colton, California.

The next review on Boozy Jerky will focus on a 1.5 ounce/43 gram bag of their Peppered Stout flavored brisket beef jerky. This flavor is described as being the most attractive piece of meat at your local tavern and is also quite diverse. The jerky was kindly submitted for review by Co-Founder & Chief Boozy Officer R. Shaun Gray.

Taste Review

BOOZY JERKY – PEPPERED STOUT BEEF JERKY

Written by guest jerky reviewer Paul Rekker

When I open the bag I smell fresh beef, but no booze. The slices are large in size, and they are sliced to a medium thickness. The jerky is rather soft, and it leaves ever so slight moistness on your fingers as you handle it.

When I bite into the jerky I taste salt at a decent level, not too intense, and the same goes for the sweetness, all within reason. I am drinking a Miller High Life as I write this review to help augment the flavor of beer, which is apparently in this jerky. It pairs well with this particular brand of jerky, which is ironic because on the back of the bag, it mentions what different boozes pair well with this jerky, and I am in agreement.

I’m tasting the pepper pretty strongly, it is as advertised. I have to be honest, I am not picking up much, very little actually, of the booze, and I have my own bag, so I popped its cherry when I opened it. I taste garlic and onion as well, but they are about as strong in flavor as the booze, and I was expecting a more pronounced stout beer flavor, as it is advertised in the description of the jerky flavor.

This has been an enjoyable flavor overall, but I have to deduct a point, as I do not believe the booze flavor is intense enough to be advertised as such. A 9/10 is my assessment.

Here is what Mark had to say about this Peppered Stout brisket beef jerky flavor from Boozy Jerky “Thanks Paul for the detailed taste review. I concur with pretty much everything stated. At times when I concentrated heavily, I experienced some bites where I was fairly certain that I was picking up on the stout beer flavor, which was quite enjoyable and authentic tasting. I achieved this by knowing how familiar soy and Worcestershire sauces taste and trying my hardest to detect something different in the taste. Bottom line, the beer is hard to detect, which is common for beer based flavors.”

“The brisket cut of beef, known as the best cut of beef to absorb the marinade, has a good level of natural beef flavor with no hint of tasting processed. The overall taste profile is well-balanced, with black pepper being the star of the show despite quite a few of the ground peppers falling off the strips. I too very much enjoyed this jerky flavor. A unanimous Very Good (9/10) taste rating will be awarded.”

This 1.5 ounce/43 gram bag of jerky sells online for $7.00. That works out to $4.67 an ounce, which rates as an expensive price.

Bag Review

This resealable plastic bag has everything imprinted on the bag, both on the front and back. The logo of the Boozy Jerky displays what could be contrived as a drunk cow’s head. The bag has an illustration of a dark, stout beer with what looks like wings in the background. There is also another drunk looking cow with jerky strips in its hands, giving a thumbs up.

A slogan printed could be “The Original Booze Infused Beef Jerky”. Some facts printed are “Premium Brisket”, “Cooked Tender”, “Pairs Best Stout”, “Natural Smoke Flavor Added”, “Made With Real Beer”, “Independence Matters”, and “Made in USA”. The perfect pairings with this stout beer jerky are listed on the back. Boozy Jerky provides their @BoozyJerky to follow them on Twitter and Instagram.

The only missing bag category is a transparent window to view the jerky. A good blurb is printed on the back about this flavor. To the credit of Boozy Jerky an email address is provided for customer inquiries. A QR code is displayed on the back.
