Jerky Ingredients – Jerky Price Range Update (July 2017)

This web site is long overdue to update its cheap, average, and expensive jerky price ranges. The last price range update was done way back in July 2014. An unfortunate fact of life is inflation, with the rising costs of meat, ingredients, and everything else.

Normally, one of two things happen. One option is for a jerky maker to raise the prices. Another common option is not to raise the prices, but reduce the quantity of jerky. Before 2008, it was commonplace to see 4 oz (1/4 pound) bags of jerky. Unfortunately, today, it is more common to see 3 oz, 3.25 oz, and 3.5 oz bags for sale, and under.

Effective July 21/2017, below are the new price ranges for beef jerky. In the following week, price ranges for 100% grass-fed beef jerky, turkey, bacon, etc. will be added also. Jerky price ranges for previous jerky reviews will not change, just jerky reviews published after July 21/2017.

Beef Jerky price ranges as of July 21/2017

Cheap Price	$2.35 per ounce and under
Average Price	$2.36 – $2.85 per ounce
Expensive Price	$2.86 per ounce and over

Just for reference, below were the price ranges from July 2014 – July 20/2017. Going forward, these price ranges will be reassessed annually each July.
