Ingredient Review
Ingredients: Beef, Water, Seasoning (Sea Salt, Spices, Garlic).
This beef used is not guaranteed to be free of growth hormones or additional antibiotics. Also, the beef is not guaranteed to have at least partial free range access to graze on grass. As a result, the highest ingredient rating that can be awarded is a Good (8/10) rating.
The liquid marinade is comprised of just plain old water.
The only healthy ingredients added are garlic and spices.
The sugar level is perfect at 0 grams of sugar per 28 grams of jerky. The salt level is high at 490mg of salt per 28 grams of jerky. However, the salt level is ignored because healthy, minimally processed sea salt is used.
This jerky does qualify to have no sodium nitrite or other similar unhealthy preservatives. Instead, sea salt is the preservative. Admirably, there is no MSG added.

Taste Review
SB CRAFT JERKY – OLD FASHIONED ORIGINAL BEEF JERKY
Written by guest jerky reviewer Paul Rekker
When I open the bag I smell very little, nothing discernible. The pieces are large and thin. The texture is quite dry, exactly as our forefathers intended.
When I bite into the jerky I am met with a very familiar flavor. Tasty, but not unusual. I taste a combination of salt and pepper, being the two most intense flavors. To a lesser degree I taste garlic. Possible light onion.
This jerky is like rawhide, it is very chewy, which, to me, is awesome.
I am definitely significantly enjoying this particular flavor, and can find nothing wrong with it, hence a 10/10. A well-deserved Two thumbs way up!!👍👍
Here is what Mark had to say about this Old Fashioned Original beef jerky flavor from SB Craft Jerky: “Thanks Paul for the succinct taste review. I cannot disagree on a single thing mentioned. The jerky texture is so thin and dry it is borderline crispy. With only four ingredients, the spice blend is well-balanced at a mild level, and lives up to its flavor name as being old fashioned. As an original flavor should be, the natural beef flavor is the main star of the show. I too cannot find a single issue with this flavor. A unanimous, enthusiastic Excellent (10/10) taste rating will be awarded. A well-deserved Two thumbs up!!👍👍”
This 2.8 ounce/79.4 gram bag of jerky sells for $8.99, which equates to $3.21 an ounce. That rates as a average price.
