Ingredient Review
Ingredients: Beef, Brown Sugar, Water, Mango Juice Concentrate, Salt, Honey, Less Than 2% of: Jalapeno Powder, Mango Powder (Maltodextrin, Mango Puree, Citric Acid, Natural Flavors), Chili Powder, Jalapeno Flakes, Sodium Nitrite.
The beef used is not guaranteed to be free of growth hormones or additional antibiotics. Also, the beef is not guaranteed to have at least partial free range access to graze on grass. As a result, the highest ingredient rating that can be awarded is a Good (8/10) rating.
The liquid marinade consists of water, healthy mango juice concentrate, and honey.
Some healthy ingredients added are jalapeno powder, mango powder, chili powder, and jalapeno flakes.
The sugar level is very high at 10 grams of sugar per 28 grams of jerky to lose a rating. Our preference is 5 grams of sugar or less per 28 grams of jerky for a fruit based flavor. In fairness, the mango accounts for some of the sugar content. The salt level is also on the high side at 500mg of salt per 28 grams of jerky to lose another rating. Our preference is 350mg of salt or less per 28 grams of jerky.
This jerky does qualify to have no sodium nitrite added as sodium nitrite is used outright as a preservative to lose a rating. Admirably, this jerky qualifies to have no MSG added.

Taste Review
Written by guest jerky reviewer Paul Rekker
When I open the bag I smell beef, and not much else. The jerky is medium in size, and it is sliced rather thin. The jerky is softish and chewy, and there is no oily residue left on your fingers.
When I bite into the jerky I taste salt, at a decent level. It is too sweet for my liking, but not crazy sweet. I taste pepper and, I believe some garlic in the background, and the jalapeño kick is also present.
I let my wife Bles try it, and she loves it. She tastes an Asian flair and says Asians would love this flavor. She tastes salt, sweet, and soy, and she really loves it. She says the jalapeño flavor is present but not too intense. We basically shared the bag.
While Bles was much more impressed than I was, we both enjoyed it. We both agreed that, while it was sweet, it lacked an authentic mango flavor. For that reason alone, we are deducting a point.
Therefore, a well-deserved 9/10.
Here is what Mark had to say about this Mango Jalapeno beef jerky flavor from Glenwood Snacks: “Thanks Paul and Bles for the taste reviews. While I mostly agree with everything, I did not detect an Asian flair with this flavor. True in that this flavor is a little too sweet tasting, but I can see not everybody agreeing with that. The heat level is about a 2 out of 5 on the heat scale at best. My only real complaint also is that the mango flavor is not well-defined. A unanimous Very Good (9/10) taste rating will be awarded.”
This 2.5 ounce/71 gram bag of jerky costs $9.39. That equates to $3.76 an ounce, which rates as an expensive price.

Bag Review
This plastic resealable bag has everything imprinted on the front and back. There are no labels affixed to this bag. There are mountains depicted in the background that are covered with snow. Illustrations of a mango and jalapeno pepper are on the front and back.
There are no slogans printed on this bag. Some facts displayed are “90 Calories”, “10g Protein”, and “Made in the USA”.
All bag categories are covered. An excellent blurb about Glenwood is printed on the back.
