Ingredient Review
100% Grass-Fed Beef and Grass Finished Beef, Water, Organic Coconut Sugar, Organic Coconut Aminos (Organic Coconut Sap, Sea Salt), Organic Coconut Vinegar, Sea Salt, Organic Sichuan Peppercorns, Organic Matcha Tea, Organic Lemongrass.
The beef used is 100% grass-fed beef sourced from Supply Background located in New Zealand. As a result, the cattle are guaranteed to have free range access to roam about. The beef is guaranteed to have been raised ethically, meaning not administered growth hormones or additional antibiotics. As a result, the highest ingredient rating possible is Excellent (10/10).
The liquid marinade is comprised of water, healthy organic coconut aminos, and healthy organic coconut vinegar.
There are some healthy ingredients added such as organic Sichuan peppercorns, organic matcha tea, and organic lemongrass.
The sugar level is at the acceptable upper limit of 4 grams of sugar per 28 grams of jerky for a sweet based flavor. Coconut sugar is used that has the lowest glycemic index for types of sugars. The salt level is respectable at 280mg of salt per 28 grams of jerky, which uses healthy minimally processed sea salt.
This jerky qualifies to have no sodium nitrite, or any other similar unhealthy preservative. With more kudos to Prevail Jerky, this jerky has no MSG added.

PREVAIL JERKY – LEMONGRASS 100% GRASS-FED BEEF JERKY

When I open the bag, I smell very little, if anything. The jerky is between small to medium in size, and they are sliced quite thin. The jerky is soft and chewy, and it leaves no oily residue on your fingers.
The first flavors I encounter are salt, sweet, pepper, garlic, and a lemon flavor.
Hmmm, I’m at a bit of a loss for words. There is nothing to the flavor to make me diss it, but there is nothing evident enough to praise it. I’m feeling a bit ambivalent here. The jerky is not even remotely grabbing me.
The lemon flavor is not enough to get me to wax poetic about it. Sorry guys, I’m afraid my review will not resonate with you guys or the jerky maker for that matter. I’ll be generous and rate it at a 7/10, but I believe the review is reading more like a 5/10.

I am definitely in Paul’s camp here in regards to this lemongrass flavor. While the level of lemon is decent, there is nothing to capture my attention with this flavor. Stéphane is correct in his suggestion of adding more Sichuan peppercorns to spruce up this flavor. The beef has a sort of processed taste.”
In lieu of COVID-19, the Group of Seven is down to four people for this review. For the record, Mark M. was also at a 9 taste rating. Based on all the feedback, I believe that a Decent (7/10) taste rating is warranted here.”
This 2.25 ounce/64 gram bag of jerky sells online for $7.99. That works out to $3.55 an ounce, which barely rates as an expensive price for 100% grass-fed beef.
