Face De Beu Foods would like to restore the nobility of jerky, which is often seen as fast food and filled with salt and preservatives. Even though their jerky is safe to eat after 12 months, their goal is regularly to renew production to offer fresh jerky. We will inevitably have to reduce our meat consumption and choose our products better soon. Their philosophy is to eat less, eat better. Jerky « Face de Beu » meets this definition.
Jerky is Face De Beu Foods’ flagship product, but they also offer ready-to-smoke meat products for BBQ lovers. Smoked meat, pork belly, and turkey breast are part of their offerings, and spices are used in their jerky. They present a podcast every week related to BBQ. « Trip bouffe BBQ » on Facebook, Twitch, and YouTube. A weekly show for BBQ lovers but also microbrewery and distillery enthusiasts.
The orange coloured spice displayed is a traditional BBQ spice ideal for chicken. The green coloured spice is perfect for salad, fish, vegetable sauce, and especially fries and mashed potatoes. The steak spice is for grilling. This Face De Beu Jerky brand name is located in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada, and is distributed by Les Ailments Face De Beu Jerky.
The next review for Face De Beu Jerky will focus on a 2.1 ounce/60 gram bag of their BBQ flavored beef jerky. This flavour is described as using their own BBQ spice blend. President/Owner/Managing Director Antoine Trudel graciously submitted the jerky.

Ingredients: Black Angus AAA Canadian Beef , Sugar (Maple Syrup), Tomato Sauce (Tomato Puree, Liquid Sugar, Vinegar, Water, Onion Powder, Spices), Natural Smoke Flavor, Sea Salt, Mustard (White Vinagar, Water, Mustard Seed, Turmeric, Natural Flavor, Spices), Spices. Allergen Warnings: Soy
This Canadian raised Black Angus beef used is not guaranteed to be free of growth hormones or additional antibiotics. Also, the beef is not guaranteed to have at least partial free range access to graze on grass. As a result, the highest ingredient rating that can be awarded is a Good (8/10) rating.
The liquid marinade used here is comprised of locally made Quebec maple syrup, healthy tomato sauce, and healthy vinegar.
The only healthy ingredients listed are spices.
The sugar is high at 8 grams of sugar per 30 grams of jerky to lose a rating. Our preference is 5 grams of sugar or less for a sweet based flavor as we have here. The salt level is sort of high at 420mg of salt per 30 grams of jerky. However, the salt level is ignored because healthy, minimally processed sea salt is used.
This jerky does qualify to have no sodium nitrite or similar unhealthy preservatives. Instead, apart from sea salt, vinegar acts as a preservative to a lesser degree. Commendably, there is no MSG added.
Decent (7/10) – Ingredient Rating

FACE DE BEU JERKY – BBQ BEEF JERKY
Written by guest jerky reviewer Paul Rekker
When I open the bag I smell BBQ. It is not a strong smell of bbq, just normal. The strips are medium in size. They are rigid, they are dry, they are chewy, a lot like what our forefathers used to make.
When I bite into one of the strips, I am met with a nice blend of flavours. The salt and garlic, along with the BBQ, are the most prominent flavours, followed, to a lesser degree, the sweet, the onion, the natural beef and a bit of a kick.
I am really enjoying these tasty morsels and they are a perfect late night snack. They are clean and very low maintenance. Overall, I would rate this flavour at a 9/10, maybe only deducting a point because the portion I got was so small. Just kidding, a perfect 10/10 folks. Gentlemen?

I enjoyed the Face de Beu BBQ Jerky, it is tasty, and it has a pleasant and subtle flavor profile. I pick up on the meaty flavor, smokiness, and some fruitiness. This jerky is slightly sweet with no spiciness. The aroma and texture are both fantastic, and they complement the product very well.
I believe the Face de Beu BBQ Jerky is a solid product. However, I don’t know if I received a defective product from a missed batch, but I do not taste any salt or spiciness. A little sprinkle of salt would go a long way in bringing personality and character to this otherwise remarkable little gem of flavor. I’d rate this jerky 9/10 Taste Rating.
Here is what Mark had to say about this BBQ beef jerky flavor from Face De Beu Jerky: “Thanks Stéphane and Paul for the descriptive taste reviews. The smell emanating from this bag is intoxicating. I agree that the texture and natural beef flavour is top notch. Stéphane had a salient point, where I tried a strip of jerky from his portion. The taste profile was missing something, where a little salt would of gone a long way. However, in my portion, the taste profile worked, coming across as an authentic tasting BBQ flavour.”
“Overall, this was an addictive treat, where the bag was consumed in no time. I am torn here because Stéphane’s portion tasted different. With Paul at a 10 rating, and Stéphane and I at a 9, a Very Good (9/10) taste rating will be awarded.”
This 2.1 ounce/60 gram bag of jerky sells for $8.99. That works out to $4.28 an ounce, which rates as an expensive price.

Bag Review
This white colored non-resealable bag has everything imprinted directly on the bag, both on the front and back. The bag is vacuum sealed, the best way to keep jerky fresh tasting.
A slogan printed on this bag is “Mangez Moinns Mais Mangez Mieux” (Eat Less But Eat Better). Some facts printed on this bag are “180 Calories”, “30g Protein”, “2g of Low Fat”, “2g of Sugar”, and “420mg of Salt”.
Some missing bag categories are distributor address details, a Canadian Department of Agriculture (CDA) inspected stamp, no English translations, and a blurb about the jerky flavour or brand.
