The next review for KRAVE Jerky will be on a 3.25 ounce/92 gram bag of their grilled sweet teriyaki flavored pork jerky. This bag was graciously submitted by the KRAVE Jerky team.
The KRAVE Jerky brand name is distributed by Krave Pure Foods, Inc., located in Sonoma, California. The company was envisioned by Jon Sebastian in 2009, while training for the NYC marathon. Their jerky is entirely gluten-free, and devoid of nitrites, MSG, and corn syrup.
Ingredient Review
Ingredients: Pork, Evaporated Cane Syrup, Low Sodium Gluten Free Soy Sauce (Water, Soybeans, Salt, Alcohol), Soybean Oil, Rice Wine, Spices, Celery Juice Powder. Allergen Warnings: Soy
With this being pork, the pigs were raised on a farm in Washington. The livestock has free range access, meaning access to roam about, and not confined to a cage all day.
The liquid marinade consists of evaporated cane syrup, a good low sodium gluten free soy sauce, soybean oil, and a rice based cooking wine. The vast majority of this ingredient list is the liquid marinade itself.
The sugar level is high at 8 grams of sugar per 28 grams of jerky. A teriyaki flavor by definition should be sweet tasting, but the preference would be 5 grams of sugar or less per 28 grams of jerky. The salt level is dead on the highest acceptable limit of 350mg salt per 28 grams of jerky.
This jerky does qualify to be sodium nitrite free. Admirably, celery juice powder is the main preservative used, which has naturally occurring nitrates. Also admirably, this jerky has no MSG added.

Taste Review
The size of the strips vary from small, to medium, and large. They are sliced to a medium thickness, almost borderline thick. This texture is fairly soft and tender, which results in relatively easy jerky to chew. There are no signs of fat, and handling this jerky does leave a slight oily residue on your fingers.
The first taste detected is at least a medium sweetness. This flavor is advertised to be sweet tasting, and it does not disappoint on that claim. As for a teriyaki flavor, there is not all that much. The soy taste is mild tasting at best, where the rice wine taste seems to be a bit stronger.
There is a decent natural pork flavor, but the sweetness dominates. This flavor more closely resembles a Filipino tocino flavor, which is a sweet tasting pork recipe.
This 3.25 ounce/92 gram bag sells online for $7.00. That works out to $2.15 an ounce, which rates as an average price. For people who enjoy a sweet tasting pork jerky flavor, this is a reasonable buy.
Bag Review
This is a standard resealable plastic bag. Everything is imprinted directly on the bag itself, both on the front and back. There are no labels affixed. This a bright, eye catching bag design. There are many random images and jerky sayings in the red part of this bag.
The KRAVE Jerky logo is of a person running. Some slogans printed on this bag are “Live a Cut Above”, “Move. Eat. Live. KRAVE.”, and “ENJOY”.
All bag categories are covered here with this bag. There is a good blurb printed on the back of this bag describing KRAVE Jerky and the grilled sweet teriyaki flavor.
