These strips of jerky are medium to large in size, and sliced thin. The texture is dry to the point where it is crunchy, which has a tendency to dissolve, disintegrate, and melt in your mouth. That does seem to require extra saliva to digest. There are very little signs of fat, and handling this jerky leaves no oily residue on your fingers.
No real defined flavor jumps out at first other than the natural beef flavor itself. At light levels are the garlic and black pepper, and there is a faint taste of onion. The saltiness is at a mild level.
Albeit lightly seasoned, it is a pleasant tasting flavor. It is really the natural beef flavor that defines this flavor, along with the crunchy texture. Overall, this Original flavor delivers in focusing on the natural flavor of beef.
A 4 ounce/113 gram bag sells online for $9.50. That works out to $2.38 an ounce, which rates as a borderline expensive price. The price gets cheaper if you order large quantities. This flavor is surely recommended if you enjoy jerky that has a dry, crispy, crunchy, brittle texture with a good amount of natural beef flavor.
