This will be the second review on a Lawless Jerky 2 ounce/57 gram bag of their Mango Habanero flavored 100% grass-fed beef jerky. The jerky has since been reformulated, meaning the ingredient list has been tweaked, the manufacturing process changed, and a new bag design has been introduced. This flavor is described as a one-two punch of heat and sweet, Mango Habanero is fruity from natural mango flavor; tangy from tomato; and SPICY from bright orange habanero peppers! Matt Tolnick, a former attorney, bravely left his law practice, and teamed up with Dan Kaplan to launch the Lawless Jerky brand name in 2013 using 100% grass-fed beef. In Matt’s words “he had the courage to run from the law..to make jerky!”. Lawless Jerky steadily grew over the next five years, reaching millions of dollars in sales. The Lawless Jerky brand name is distributed by Monogram Meat Snacks, LTD., and they are located in Memphis, Tennessee.

Ingredients: Grass-Fed Beef, Beef Broth, Sugar, Contains 2% or Less of Pineapple Juice Concentrate, Salt, Natural Flavors Including Mango, Habanero, Sun Dried Tomato Powder.
Lawless Jerky is guaranteed to use 100% grass-fed beef. As a result, the cattle are guaranteed to have free range access, and be ethically raised. As a result, the ingredient rating starts at an Excellent (10/10) rating.

The liquid marinade is comprised of healthy beef broth, and a small amount of healthy pineapple juice concentrate. Beef broth is bones boiled in water that contains many minerals, among other healthy things.
The heat is achieved from habanero peppers, which are healthy if eaten in moderation. On the Scoville Heat Scale, Habanero peppers rate around 100,000 – 305,000 scovilles, which classifies as being pretty hot tasting.
The sugar level is fairly high at around 8.55 grams of sugar per 28 grams of jerky to lose a rating. For a hot based flavor as we have here, our preference is 4 grams of sugar or less per 28 gram of jerky. The salt level is acceptable at around 335mg of salt per 28 grams of jerky.
This jerky does qualify to have no sodium nitrite used, or any other similar unhealthy preservatives. Instead, salt is the main preservative used. Admirably, this jerky qualifies to have no MSG added.

As it is so often the case, I am as enamored with this jerky as I normally am with their other flavors or with the company itself for that matter. I find this is yet another very solid jerky and I believe it is easy to understand why Lawless Jerky has quickly became like many others my favorite jerky maker. At least, it is easy for me to understand this fact. I also share Paul’s opinion in regards to this jerky.
As always, the high quality and wonderful taste of their selected ingredients is well respected within this jerky. The spiciness is kicked up although, it is still at a reasonable level and I am certain this is a level most jerky lovers will appreciate. I would probably rate the heat at 2/5 on the heat scale. I appreciate the subtle sweetness and/or fruitiness of this jerky. I also find that mangoes like many other fruits are somewhat more challenging to represent in their natural state than a similar artificial flavoring. This is simply the nature of the beast and it is common with most natural versus artificial flavors. I also notice a favorable amount of natural beef flavor without being overwhelmed by the spiciness. The garlic, salt and cracked black pepper do elevate this flavor profile.
In my own opinion, Lawless Jerky Mango Habanero 100% Grass Fed Beef Jerky has knocked it out of the park once again and up to notches unknown to mankind. The sweetness, the acidity and spiciness are on point and really well balanced while also preserving the more delicate taste of the beef. Each strip has the perfect texture and consistency where it is easy to chew while still delivering maximum flavor in every bite. By the same token, this well developed jerky delivers a rich, flavorful and an overall beautiful experience.
As it is most often the case, I find Lawless and their jerky product stand head and shoulders above their competition. I would certainly recommend this jerky to anyone seeking excitement or longing to add a little spiciness in their daily snack arsenal. I would certainly and wholeheartedly rate this very tasty gem an Excellent 10/10.

Unusually, this bag opens vertically, as opposed to horizontally. Also unusual is that while this bag is made of plastic, it has a feel similar to paper or dull sandpaper. Everything is imprinted directly on this resealable bag, both on the front and back.
The Lawless Jerky slogan “A Braver Flavor” is displayed on the front, cleverly situated under “Tear Here For”. Another slogan printed is “America’s Craft Jerky Looks Forward To Meating You”.
