CJ’s Dehydrated Products Inc. debuted its Jerk My Meat jerky brand in February 2022. They produce a variety of Beef Jerky, Trail Mixes, Dehydrated Fruits, and Spices. Owners Joe and Corey were both born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie and have been friends for over 15 years. Both were in the Canadian Armed Forces, and both have culinary backgrounds. They bring a unique flavour to their company.
Joe and Corey have a love for the outdoors and an even greater love for traveling and experiencing new adventures. During one of their adventures away with their wives to the Caribbean, they discovered a love for their main product (JERKY!) and wanted to share it with others.
Jerk My Meat debuted its store on 518 Queen Street East in downtown Sault Ste. Marie in September. I had the opportunity to visit their store, where I have positive expectations for them. This Jerk My Meat jerky brand name is located in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada, and is distributed under CJ’s Dehydrated Products Inc.
The next review for Jerk My Meat will focus on a 3.5 ounce/99 gram bag of their Jalapeno Dill flavored beef jerky. This flavour is described as being made with local beef, natural flavours, and is low in salt and sugar content with no MSG. The jerky was graciously submitted by co-owner Joe.
Ingredient Review
Ingredients: Beef, Salt, Spices, Jalapeno, Dehydrated Jalapeno Flakes, Fresh Dill, Citric Acid.
The beef used is not guaranteed to be free of growth hormones or additional antibiotics. Also, the beef is not guaranteed to have at least partial free range access to graze on grass. As a result, the highest ingredient rating that can be awarded is a Good (8/10) rating.
There is no liquid marinade used here. Some people would call this old fashioned jerky or a jerky rub.
Some healthy ingredients added are spices, jalapeno peppers, dehydrated jalapeno flakes, and fresh dill.
There is no nutritional facts table provided. As a result, the exact amounts of salt and sugar are unknown.
This jerky does qualify to have no sodium nitrite or any other similar unhealthy preservatives. To a lesser degree, citric acid acts as a preservative. Commendably, there is no MSG added.

Taste Review
JERK MY MEAT – JALAPENO DILL BEEF JERKY
Written by guest jerky reviewer Paul Rekker
When I open the bag I smell both the jalapeño and the dill. It’s noticeable but not overpowering. The pieces are small but relatively thick. The jerky texture is perfect. It is rigid but not dry, just as our forefathers intended.
As I bite into the morsels of jerky I am met with a couple of exceptionally tasty flavours, that being jalapeño and dill. They are at the forefront of the flavours. Again, strong but not overpowering. Along with the two advertised flavours I am also detecting salt, pepper, slight garlic, and onion, not much, if any, sweet. The jalapeño is picking up as I consume more pieces. The dill flavour remains constant. I am a fan of both flavours.
I can’t find any fault whatsoever with this jerky, it both comes across as advertised, and it tastes spectacular. I am compelled to give this flavour a resounding 10/10. Well done Jerk My Meat. Take a bow!!
Here is what Mark had to say about this Jalapeno Dill beef jerky flavor from Jerky My Meat: “Thanks and Paul for the glowing taste review. 100% agree. This flavour delivers on both the Jalapeno and dill. Plus the texture of this jerky is divine, being easy to chew with a rigid texture. The dill taste is in the forefront and finishes with some heat from the Jalapeno peppers. This Jalapeno flavour is not all that spicy tasting but on par for a Jalapeno based flavour. The heat level would rate no more than 2 out 5 on the heat scale.”
“True in that there is little to no sweetness, which makes the natural beef flavour stand out. The saltiness is at a reasonable level, and the onion/garlic is at a light level. Overall, this simple taste profile of dill and Jajapeno peppers works wonderfully. I cannot come up with a single criticism and have a hard time not consuming my portion in one sitting. A unanimous Excellent (10/10) taste rating will be awarded. An enthusiastic two thumbs up!!👍👍.”
This 3.5 ounce/99 gram bag of beef jerky sells for $10.00. That works out to $2.85 an ounce, which rates as an average price.

Bag Review
This resealable black coloured bag has labels attached to the front and back. The Jerk My Meat logo is a caricature of the owners, Joe and Corey.
There are no slogans printed on this bag. The only fact stated is “Prepared And Packaged At: Bruni’s Fine Foods”.
Some missing bag categories are a blurb printed about this jerky, the jerky weight, a Canadian Department of Agriculture stamp, a nutritional facts table, a company website, distributor address details, barcode, best before date, and French translations. Admirably, phone numbers are provided for customer inquiries.
