The first review on OSTRIM will focus on a 1.5 ounce/42 gram bag of Habanero flavored beef elk stick. This flavor is described as having the right amount of mouthwatering heat with a touch of raw cane sugar sweetness paired up with a dash of priority spices for an amazing Caribbean style flavor. The bag was purchased at The Vitamin Shoppe in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Ingredient Review
Ingredients: 100% Grass-Fed Beef, Elk, Rice Bran, Seasoning (Sea Salt, Raw Cane Sugar, Spices (Whole Mustard Seed, Black Pepper), Natural Flavor, Garlic Powder), Ground Mustard, Encapsulated Citric Acid, Cultured Celery Powder (Celery Powder, Sea Salt), Spices.
Grass-fed beef is used here and raised ethically, meaning they are not fed growth hormones or additional antibiotics. There is also free range access for the cattle to roam about. Elk meat is leaner and healthier compared to beef and are raised ethically As a result, the highest ingredient rating that can be awarded is an Excellent (10/10) rating.
Some healthy ingredients added are mustard seed, black pepper, garlic powder), mustard powder, and spices. The vague term natural flavor is listed, which can contain healthy and unhealthy ingredients.
The sugar level is low at 1 gram of sugar per 42 grams of meat stick. The salt level is somewhat high at 600mg of salt per 42 grams of meat stick. However, the salt level is ignored because healthy, minimally processed sea salt is used.
This meat stick does qualify to have no sodium nitrite or any other similar unhealthy preservatives. Instead, the main preservatives used are sea salt and, to a lesser extent celery powder. Admirably, there is no MSG added.

OSTRIM – HABANERO 100% GRASS=FED BEEF ELK STICK
Written by guest jerky reviewer Paul Rekker
When I bite into the casing of the meat stick I am met with the smell of vinegar. It is a large meat stick, larger than most, and it has a bit of an oily residue. The texture is decent, somewhere in between old school and modern, and it is of a natural hue.
When I bite into the meat stick I am met with the flavors of salt, at a decent level, minimal sweetness, mild garlic and pepper, and the definite undertone of heat from the Habanero. This meat stick is quite delicious as you consume more, and it is “checking all of the boxes”, so to speak. Great texture, great flavor, great snack experience, definite 10/10.
Here is what Mark had to say about this Habanero 100% grass-fed beef elk stick flavor from OSTRIM: “Thanks Paul for the astute taste review. I agree with everything stated. At first, I could not detect much of the signature heat that Habanero delivers. After consuming about half of the meat stick, the burn from the Habanero became more noticeable. The texture of this meat stick had a discernable ‘snap’. I cannot say that I picked up on the elk flavor, but the combination of 100% grass-fed beef and elk was very favorable. The absence of sweetness was very much appreciated. There is not much else to add, as Paul covered all the bases. A unanimous Excellent (10/10) taste rating will be awarded. A very enthusiastic two thumbs up!!👍👍”
This 1.5 ounce/42 gram bag of 100% grass-fed beef elk stick sold for $3.49, which equates to $2.33 an ounce. That rates as an expensive price.

Bag Review
This bag has everything imprinted on the front. There are no labels affixed to this bag.
There are no slogans printed on this bag. The only fact printed is “100% Grass-Fed Beef & Elk Stick”.
The only missing bag category is a blurb about OSTRIM or this flavor, which is typical for a meat stick.
