Boozy Jerky – Mango Habanero Ale Beef Jerky

Monday, June 9, 2025 Leave a Comment

Boozy Jerky - Mango Habanero Ale Beef JerkyBoozy Jerky is a distinctive beef jerky brand that artfully combines tender cuts of meat with the rich flavors of craft beer and spirits. Founded in 2018 by two seasoned entrepreneurs with backgrounds in private label jerky production for wineries and breweries and direct-to-consumer jerky subscriptions, the company set out to create a product that stands apart from traditional offerings. Rejecting the idea of producing another generic jerky, they focused on innovation, infusing their products with unique alcoholic flavors to enhance the snacking experience.

Each variety of Boozy Jerky is marinated for 24 to 48 hours in carefully selected craft beers or spirits, such as pilsners, IPAs, lagers, or bourbon, and then seasoned with complementary spices. This meticulous process results in jerky that is not only flavorful but also tender and easy to chew. Notably, while real alcohol is used in the marination process, the final product contains no residual alcohol, making it safe for all ages. The jerky is also gluten-free, high in protein, and suitable for various dietary preferences, including keto and paleo diets.

Boozy Jerky delivers a premium product that appeals to both meat snack enthusiasts and craft beverage aficionados by focusing on small-batch production and using locally sourced craft beers. Their commitment to quality and innovation has positioned them as a unique player in the meat snack industry. This Boozy Jerky brand is distributed under the name Boozy Jerky, LLC, and it is located in Otsego, Minnesota. The jerky is manufactured by Boyd Specialties, located in Colton, California.

The first review on Boozy Jerky will focus on a 8 ounce/227 gram bag of their Mango Habanero Ale flavored brisket beef jerky. This flavor is described as being infused with a light-bodied Mango Blonde Ale from Lift Bridge Brewery (Stillwater, MN) & the sweet heat from a Habanero pepper, makes this gloriously tender jerky the ideal pairing partner for Blonde Ales, Brown Ales, a refreshing Shandy, or one of your favorite Pilsners.

Ingredient Review

Beef, Brown Sugar, Mango Puree, Apple Cider Vinegar, Lift Bridge Mango Blonde Ale, Honey, Habaneros, Seasoned Salt (Chili Peppers, Salt, Dehydrated Lime Juice, and Silicon Dioxide (Used For Anti-Caking)), Minced Garlic (Garlic, Citric Acid), Ginger, Sea Salt, Granulated Onion, Habanero Powder, Cumin, Coriander, Turmeric.

Boozy Jerky - Mango Habanero Ale Beef JerkyThe cut of beef brisket used is not guaranteed to be free of growth hormones or additional antibiotics. Also, the beef is not guaranteed to have at least partial free range access to graze on grass. As a result, the highest ingredient rating that can be awarded is a Good (8/10) rating.

The liquid marinade used here is comprised of healthy mango puree, super healthy apple cider vinegar, Lift Bridge mango blonde ale, and healthy honey.

Some healthy ingredients added are minced garlic, ginger, granulated onion, cumin, coriander, and turmeric. The heat is achieved from the habanero peppers and habanero powder, where hot peppers are healthy if eaten in moderation, which flushes toxins out of the body.

The sugar is acceptable at 3 grams of sugar per 28 grams of jerky. The salt level is extremely low at 55mg of salt per 28 grams of jerky.

This jerky does qualify to have no sodium nitrite or any other similar unhealthy preservatives. Instead, the main preservative used is sea salt. Admirably, there is no MSG added.

BOOZY JERKY – MANGO HABANERO ALE BEEF JERKY

Written by guest jerky reviewer Paul Rekker

When I open the bag I smell juice, possibly mango juice. The jerky strips are long and stringy. The jerky is light in hue and is sliced to a medium thickness. It is not very rigid, so our forefathers would express concern. There is no oily residue left on your fingers.

When I bite into the jerky, I am met with salt and sweetness at a decent level. I also detect pepper, albeit mild, along with mild garlic and onion. I am definitely detecting the heat. It is not intense, but it is very noticeable. The ale flavor is slightly detectable but by no means intense. Overall, it has a decent flavor but lacks the “wow” factor. This review is reading like an 8/10, and that is what I am rewarding this flavor.

Here is what Mark had to say about this Mango Habanero Ale brisket beef jerky flavor from Boozy Jerky “Thanks Paul for the candid taste review. We do not see eye to eye on this review. The mango flavor is at a top-notch level, and it is one of the stars of the show. The other star of the show is the heat from the habanero peppers. While not overly spicy, the heat would rate at about a 2 out of 5 on the heat scale and has a small amount of the signature burn that habanero peppers bring to the table.

Minnesota’s Lift Bridge mango blonde ale is harder to detect, which is commonly true for beer centric jerky flavors, but it does come across faintly. The cut of beef used is brisket, which is known as one of the best cuts of beef to absorb the marinade, as is the case here. This brisket jerky is advertised to be tender, so zero complaints are warranted on the texture not being rigid enough. There is zero trace of the natural beef flavor being processed, where it comes across as homemade jerky. This jerky delivers on all fronts, and I do not have a single complaint. The overall taste profile is pretty complex and downright delicious for fans of mangoes, which Paul is certainly not. With Paul at an 8 and myself at a solid 10 rating, a Very Good (9/10) taste rating will be awarded. An enthusiastic two thumbs up!!👍👍”

This 8 ounce/227 gram bag of jerky sells online for $23.99. That works out to $3.00 an ounce, which rates as a borderline cheap price.

Very Good (9/10) – Taste Rating

Bag Review

This black, resealable plastic bag has a label affixed to the front and nothing on the back. The logo of the Boozy Jerky displays what could be contrived as a drunk cow’s head. The bag has an illustration of an ale beer with a slice of lemon and a palm tree, sun, and cloud in the background. There is also another drunk looking cow with jerky strips in its hands, giving a thumbs up.

A slogan printed could be “The Original Booze Infused Beef Jerky”. The only facts printed are “Pairs Best Blonde Ales” and “Est. 2018.”

The only missing bag category is a blurb about Boozy Jerky or this flavor.

Decent (7/10) – Bag Rating
