3B’s Pub Jerky – Sweet And Spicy Beef Jerky

Monday, November 4, 2019 Leave a Comment

3B's Pub Jerky - Sweet and Spicy Beef JerkyBackwoods Chef Eddie is the creator of the 3B’s Pub Jerky brand name that was officially launched in 2006. 3B’s meaning Beer, Babes, and Burgers/Beef. Eddie was a U.S. Army paratrooper having served during the Cold war era defending a border with the 11th ACR from a possible threat. Growing up in the Backwoods and hunting in his home state of Virginia, he became an avid hunter following traditional Native American ways of hunting building natural blinds, hunting from trees, or stalking his prey. Whitetail deer and wild turkey were his favorite choices for jerky.

All meat is harvested and not wasted. With the harvest of those hunts, the earliest jerky recipes were created, which have evolved into the recipes that they use with their beef jerky today. This 3B’s Pub Jerky brand name is located in Elkton, Virginia, and it is distributed under the same name of 3B’s Pub Jerky.

The next review for 3B’s Pub Jerky will focus on a 1 ounce/28 gram bag of their sweet and spicy flavored beef jerky. This sweet and spicy beef jerky flavor is described as being A little sweet, A little spicy, where the best of both worlds collide in this classic. The jerky was kindly submitted for review by the Founder/Owner/Creator, Backwoods Chef Eddie Kirby.

Taste Review

Written by guest jerky reviewer Paul Rekker

When I open the bag, I smell natural beef, along with light sweet. The slices are small to medium in size, and they are sliced to a medium thickness. The jerky is relatively soft and dry, and it leaves no oily residue on your fingers.

The first flavors I encounter are salt, sweet, pepper, garlic and a fair amount of natural beef. The spice is more in the background, it hasn’t quite broken through yet with any measure of boldness. I’d have to say that the sweetness is winning the battle over the spice, I wish it was the other way around. A little too much sweet, not quite enough spice, otherwise a decent tasting jerky. I am picking up on a juice, possibly pineapple juice?

Here is what Mark had to say about this sweet and spicy beef jerky flavor from 3B’s Pub Jerky: “Thanks Paul. True that this flavor has more sweet than spice but the sweetness level does not go overboard even though the texture is borderline candied. The spiciness could arguably stand to be at a higher level. Stéphane and I seemed to enjoy this flavor more than Paul, where we were both at an Excellent (10/10) taste rating. There is a mighty delicious base of flavors in the background that makes this sweet and spicy flavor a treat to eat, which is addictive as heck.”

A 1 ounce/28 gram bag sells for $5.00, which rates as an expensive price. The price is cheaper at $3.12 an ounce if you order a pound of jerky from the 3B’s Pub Jerky web site.
