Dickson’s Farmstand Meats – Campfire Beef Jerky

Tuesday, July 26, 2022 2 Comments

Dickson's Farmstand Meats - Campfire Beef JerkyDickson’s Farmstand Meats first started selling two beef jerky flavors in 2009. Dickson’s Farmstand Meats is a neighborhood butcher shop in Chelsea Market offering artisanal meats and house-made charcuterie. Their beef, pork, lamb, and poultry are sourced from small, family farms in upstate New York that are carefully handpicked for their humanely-raised, high-quality animals. They proudly share with you the stories of their farmers and their practices.

Honoring tradition and the values of our shop, they make all of our products from the same whole animals from which we cut our steaks and chops. Dickson’s Farmstand Meats strive to use every part of every animal – from nose to tail. This Dickson’s Farmstand Meats jerky brand is distributed under the same name as Dickson’s Farmstand Meats, and it is located in New York, New York.

The next review on Dickson’s Farmstand Meats will focus on a 4 ounce/113 gram bag of Campfire flavored beef jerky. This bag was purchased at Chelsea Market in New York, New York.

DICKSON’S FARMSTAND MEATS – CAMPFIRE BEEF JERKY

Written by guest jerky reviewer Paul Rekker

When I open the bag I smell soy. The pieces are quite large and sliced rather thin. The jerky is hard and stringy. It looks and smells a lot like Colin & Steve’s jerky (homemade jerky sold in 2010). The hue of the jerky is darker than your normal jerky, which suggests more marinade. Time will tell if that’s true or not.

When I bite into one of the pieces (they’re so large I only received 2 of them), I immediately taste salt, pepper, garlic, ketchup, slight onion, sweet, but well within reason. I also detect natural beef, but no kick. Mind you, it is not advertised as so, so no harm, no foul. This flavour is very addictive, even as basically an original flavour, I am enjoying it a great deal.

I find nothing wrong with this flavour, I am thoroughly convinced that this flavour deserves a 10/10. Gentlemen?

Dickson Farmstand Jerky – Campfire Beef Jerky is tasty. I’ve been reflecting and Paul did a great job at describing this jerky and I can’t add much.

I was just kidding, I always have something to say, and if I may add my grain of salt and I will. I would probably mention the smokiness is front and center. I would certainly guess with a name such as Campfire, it is more than likely intentional.

In any case, there is a lot of flavor here and I am sure most will enjoy this Dickson Farmstand Jerky – Campfire Beef Jerky.

I’d rate this jerky 10\10 Taste Rating.

Here is what Mark had to say about this Campfire beef jerky flavor from Dickson’s Farmstand Meats: “Thanks Paul and Stéphane for the candid taste reviews. I fully endorse both of your reviews. While the flavor of the smoke is present, I thought this ‘Campfire’ flavor kind more describes jerky that you can pass around a campfire, which everybody would enjoy.”

“The natural beef flavor reminds me of homemade jerky and exactly what you want with an original based flavor. I too can find no issues with this flavor. A well-deserved unanimous Excellent (10/10) taste rating will be awarded. An enthusiastic two thumbs up!!👍👍.”

This 4 ounce/113 gram bag of jerky sells for $15.30, which equates to $3.83 an ounce. That rates at an expensive price.

Excellent (10/10) – Taste Rating

Bag Review

This resealable plastic bag has labels affixed to the front and back. The front is black, and the back is silver in color.

There are no slogans or facts printed on this bag.

Some missing bag categories are a nutrition facts table, a USDA stamp, a blurb about his jerky or flavor, an ingredient list, a best before date, but there is a packed date and graphics.

I ordered a variety of this jerky upon reading this review. I’m not sure if I received a bad batch or not, but it’s literally inedible. I opened both the Jalapeno flavor and habanero flavor and they tasted nearly identical, and both horrible. The only difference I was able to detect was a very slight amount of heat in the habanero, there was no discernable heat whatsoever in the Jalapeno. I couldn’t detect any marinade or flavor other than what I can only describe as spoiled meat. I had mine shipped, so maybe if you stop by their market in NYC it’s fresher? In all of the dozens of different jerky providers I’ve ordered from based on reviews from this website, this is the only one that is so wildly off the mark that I felt compelled to submit a review.
