The G.O.A.T. Beef Jerky Company began as a hobby (Greatest of All Time). The founder, J.R. Towe, received a dehydrator for Christmas, and started experimenting with different jerky recipes until he perfected the texture and flavor. After a few years, J.R. decided to take his taste tests one step further, so he ordered packaging from Amazon. Very proud of the new look, he sent a sample to an old friend, which received very positive feedback.
The thought of J.R.s beef jerky being available for everyone to enjoy was an exciting prospect. But soon enough, thoughts of doubt and failure took over, causing him to dismiss the idea altogether. After all, he had a great job with a great company – a place he’d worked for nearly 20 years – and he knew building a business from the ground up would be a massive undertaking for one person.
One day, a friend asked him why he wasn’t selling his jerky. After explaining everything it would take to make it work – and everything that could go wrong – his friend asked, “But what if it could work?” That’s when J.R. realized he’d given up before he even started. The very next day J.R. began working on a plan to build a jerky company.
In December 2018, The G.O.A.T. Beef Jerky Company was launched. Recently, the bag designs have been updated, and Korean BBQ, Citrus Teriyaki, and Whiskey Rebellion beef jerky flavors were introduced. This The G.O.A.T. Beef Jerky Company is distributed under the same of The G.O.A.T. Beef Jerky Company, and they are located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
The next review on The G.O.A.T. Beef Jerky Company will focus on a 2.5 ounce/71 gram bag of their Citrus Teriyaki flavored beef jerky. This flavor is described as the familiar sweet and tangy taste of teriyaki with a hint of orange making a perfect combination. The jerky was kindly submitted for review by the founder, J.R. Towe.

THE G.O.A.T BEEF JERKY COMPANY – CITRUS TERIYAKI BEEF JERKY
Written by guest jerky reviewer Paul Rekker
When I open the bag I smell what I believe to be citrus and vinegar, along maybe with soy. The pieces vary largely in size, and they appear to be mostly sliced to a medium thickness. The jerky is soft and juicy, and it leaves a slight oily residue on your fingers.
I am tasting the citrus right off of the hop, it is very prevalent. I also taste salt, pepper (mild), garlic (also mild), too much sweet for my (biased) taste buds, citrus, vinegar, pineapple juice (?), and some natural beef.
Overall, this jerky is too sweet for my taste buds, and not really grabbing me by the cojones, just not impressing me much at all. Sorry Mark, I know you liked this flavor. Hopefully, Stephane responds as well, and he feels the same way as you, so you can use his taste review. Color me uninspired, this jerky is a 7 or 8 at best out of 10.”
Here is what Stéphane had to say: “Oh my Lord! The G.O.A.T. Beef Jerky Company Citrus Teriyaki beef jerky was sent to me in a Ziploc bag within an envelope. As soon as I opened the envelope, an incredible aroma hit my nostrils. I immediately fell in love with this meaty delight and I knew, I was in for a treat.”
“This jerky is so tasty, it should be outlawed. The flavor profile is complex and delicious. The citrus flavor is at the forefront, it is well complemented with garlic and onion, salt and a pleasant kick of black pepper. The soy and ginger give it a great Asian flair. The meaty flavor is fabulous, unmistakable and it puts the cherry on top of the Sundae.”
“The G.O.A.T. Beef Jerky Company Citrus Teriyaki is bold and it creates a wonderful experience. This jerky is sweet and at a reasonable level without going overboard in my own opinion.”
“After all, this is a Teriyaki flavor with a generous citrusy splash. This is great-tasting beef jerky and it will certainly charm the most discerning Teriyaki Beef Jerky aficionado. This certainly deserves an Excellent 10/10 taste rating with two thumbs way up!!!👍👍”
Here is what Mark had to say about this Citrus Teriyaki beef jerky flavor from The G.O.A.T. Beef Jerky Company: “Thanks Paul and Stéphane for your taste reviews. Paul, I know that you are not the biggest fan or orange or teriyaki. Funny that I do not taste near that much sweetness with this flavor compared to Paul. A teriyaki flavor by definition is sweet tasting, and this sweetness level is within reason.”
“This flavor is advertised to have only a hint of orange flavor. Well, it’s quite a bit more than a hint of orange flavor, which is perfectly fine if you are a fan of orange to begin with. The overall taste profile blends in beautifully here between the orange and teriyaki flavors.”
“Due to COVID-19, our Group of Seven is down to four for this review. Mark M. enjoyed this flavor and awarded a 9/10 rating stating he was being biased not being an orange or teriyaki fan, so thus means a 10 rating. Stéphane totally also fully agrees with me. Sorry Paul, you are outnumbered here with three Excellent (10/10) taste ratings. Two thumbs way up!!!👍👍”
A 2.5 ounce/71 gram bags sells online for $9.99. That works out to $4.00 an ounce, which rates as a pretty expensive price.

Bag Review
This black plastic resealable bag has everything imprinted on the bag itself, both on the front and back. There is a high resolution picture on the front of the beef jerky displaying strips of jerky, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, and an orange.
Some slogans printed on this bag are “The Greatest of All Time”, and “There Can Only Be One G.O.A.T.” Some facts printed are “Handcrafted”, and “Natural Smoke Flavor Added”.
The only missing bag category is a transparent window to view the actual jerky to lose a rating. Printed on the bag is a great blurb about The G.O.A.T. Beef Jerky Company. The hashtag #showusyourgoat is displayed along with Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter images.
