An aerospace engineer by trade, John Denning started making biltong about three years ago in a small biltong box and had good feedback. Little Sutton Biltong Company advertises as using all 100% grass-fed beef with no artificial anything as only the very best ingredients are used, including the silverside cut of beef. John states that his biltong has been a challenge to make using no preservatives, but the result is well worth it.
Selling to friends and family on Facebook since 2017, John will soon be increasing production capacity to keep up with demand. John is pretty meticulous about quality, so he wouldn’t like to expand to a point where quality could be compromised, but that is going to change soon using some space-age tech in a drying room, but that is John’s secret😉. Little Sutton Biltong Company is distributed under the same name of Little Sutton Biltong Company, and it is located in Sutton, England.
The next review on Little Sutton Biltong Company will focus on a 4.2 ounce/120 gram bag of their smoky bbq flavoured 100% grass-fed beef biltong. This flavour is described as being a recipe from a friend from Quebec who lives now in England and then tweaked a bit to include smoky chipotle morita chilli, herbs and spices, a little more muscovado in this one but not sweet like traditional jerky. The biltong was kindly submitted for review by the Founder and CEO, John Denning.
Ingredients: 100% Grass Fed Beef (220g of beef per 100g of finished product), Celtic Sea Salt, Brown Sugar, Smoked Chipotle Powder, Black Pepper, Paprika, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, Black Pepper, Mexican Oregano, Parsley, Nutmeg, Cumin, Artisan Malt Vinegar (BARLEY), Worcester Sauce (FISH) Allergen Warnings: Anchovies
The silverside cut of beef used is 100% grass-fed beef. As a result, the cattle are guaranteed to have free range access to roam about. The beef is guaranteed to have been raised ethically, meaning not administered growth hormones or additional antibiotics. As a result, the highest ingredient rating possible is Excellent (10/10)
This liquid marinade used here is comprised of an artisan malt vinegar from Cornwall and Worcester sauce.
There are healthy ingredients added, such as black pepper, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, Mexican oregano, parsley, nutmeg, and cumin. The mild heat is achieved from the smoked chipolte powder, where hot peppers are healthy if eaten in moderation.
There is no nutrition facts table provided. As a result, the exact sugar and salt levels are unknown.
This biltong does qualify to have no sodium nitrite or any other similar unhealthy preservatives. Instead, french grey sea salt is the main preservative and artisan malt vinegar from Cornwall to a lesser extent. Admirably, this biltong qualifies to have no MSG added.
Excellent (10/10) – Ingredient Rating

LITTLE SUTTON BILTONG COMPANY – SMOKY BBQ 100% GRASS-FED BEEF BILTONG
Written by guest biltong reviewer Paul Rekker
When I open the bag I smell the bbq. The pieces are small and thin, almost like they were shredded, very similar to all other biltong we have sampled. The biltong is shiny, soft, and dry, again, just like previous biltong reviewed. There is no oily residue left on your fingers handing these biltong strips.
The first flavours that jump out at me are the bbq, first and foremost. Still, the smoky flavour is jumping out at me as well, along with a noticeable kick, no kick advertised, but the kick is there just the same, and it is seriously enhancing the overall flavour.
WOW!! This is some ridiculously tasty biltong, it is not disappointing at all. It is grabbing my taste buds by the ‘throat’, and it is dragging me along in a delicious journey, taking me to various levels of euphoria, hallucinating about how “heavenly” this is tasting. My taste buds are floating in a succulent vat of mind-boggling perfection, I am powerless to resist.
As I am brought back down to earth after finishing the bag, I am yearning for my next ‘trip’ (former acid lovers will understand), and gesticulating feverishly, waiting for my next awesome sojourn.
This biltong is a top-shelf 10/10. Gentlemen?
Here is what Mark had to say about this smoky bbq 100% grass-fed beef beef biltong flavour from Little Sutton Biltong Company: “Thanks Paul for the thorough taste review. We are in 100% agreement here. The smokiness aspect of this flavour is surprisingly strong tasting. While not having a traditional sweet barbecue flavour, the bbq aspect of this flavour knocks it out of the park.”
“True, there is a little kick to this flavour, which fits in beautifully. I too was powerless in devouring my portion. Take a bow John. You have yet to disappoint us with your artisan biltong. A very enthusiastic two thumbs up!!👍👍”
This 4.2 ounce/120 gram bag of biltong sells for £5.00. That works out to an unbelievably low price of £1.19 an ounce, which rates at a cheap price.
