The beef used is not guaranteed to be free of growth hormones or additional antibiotics. Also, the beef is not guaranteed to have at least partial free range access to graze on grass. As a result, the highest ingredient rating that can be awarded is a Good (8/10) rating.
The liquid marinade is comprised of plain old water in the old-fashioned way.
The sugar level is great at 0 grams of sugar per 28 grams of jerky. The salt level is acceptable at 330mg of salt per 28 grams of jerky.
This jerky does not qualify to have no sodium nitrite as sodium nitrite is used outright to lose a rating. Admirably, there is no MSG added.

LOVE”S BEEF JERKY – REAL BEEF JERKY
Written by guest jerky reviewer Paul Rekker
When I cut open the bag I smell natural beef. There are two very large (long) pieces of jerky, which is sliced very thin and is very dry, almost crispy.
When I bite into the jerky I taste salt, no sweet (a good thing), pepper, garlic, and slight onion. Do I taste soy? Possibly, but I’m not the most astute at tasting soy.
This is one bloody tasty flavor of jerky, especially for an original flavor. The texture and the flavor are impeccable. I can find nothing to complain about, bringing me to a well-deserved 10/10.
Here is what Mark had to say about this Real beef jerky flavor from Love’s Beef Jerky: “Thanks Paul for the positive taste review. This jerky tastes exactly how it was advertised. Old fashioned jerky seasoned mostly with salt and pepper and has a tough, dry texture. With this jerky being sliced so thin, the chewing experience is not so bad on your teeth. A light level of smoke is present in the background.”
“The natural beef flavor is at a good level, just the way it should be for an original based flavor on what we have here. No soy in this flavor. I cannot find a single complaint with this jerky, and it tastes identical to how I remember it tasting around 15 years ago. A unanimous, well-deserved Excellent (10/10) taste rating will be awarded. A very enthusiastic two thumbs up!!👍👍”
This 1 ounce/28 gram bag of jerky sells for $6.49. That rates as a very expensive price.

Bag Review
This clear plastic bag has a label affixed to the front and a cardboard insert on the back. The Love’s Beef Jerky logo has a couple of red hearts, and another red heart is replacing the apostrophe between the ‘e’ and ‘s’ in ‘Love’s.
A slogan printed on this bag is “Quality Smoked Meat Products Since 1946. Some facts printed are “20g Protein” and “Gluten-Free”.
The only missing bag category is a best before date. There is a good blurb printed on the back about Love’s Beef Jerky, To the credit of Love’s Beef Jerky a toll free number is provided for customer inquiries.
