Ingredients: Atlantic Salmon, Black Pepper, Sea Salt, Sugar, Vitamin E (as D-Alpha-Tocopherol).
Of any jerky, wild Atlantic salmon might rank the healthiest of them all. This salmon is certified by Kosher Supervision of America (KSA) Kosher. Salmon is known to be very healthy, and it is especially loaded with the fatty acid Omega 3. As a result, the ingredient rating starts at an Excellent (10/10) rating.
There is no liquid marinade used here. Some refer to that as old fashioned jerky or a dry rub.
Some healthy ingredients added are black pepper and vitamin E.
The sugar level is very good at less than 1 gram of sugar per 29 grams of jerky. The salt level is acceptable at 340mg of salt per 29 grams of jerky.
This jerky does qualify to have no sodium nitrite or other similar unhealthy preservatives. Instead, the main preservative used is sea salt. Admirably, there is no MSG added.

This salmon jerky is phenomenal, and Surfsnax put their money where their mouth is. I appreciate the simplicity of the seasoning, the black pepper is unmistakable while subtle and in the background. The flavor and high quality of the salmon is showcased beautifully. The crispy texture adds to the flavor profile while providing another level to the experience. Texture is Flavor!
Surfsnax Salmon Jerky Original Pepper is delicious, and they live up to their Mission Statement. Their respect for this beautiful fish is commendable and greatly appreciated. Their motto “Hooked at First Bite!” holds true. This tasty salmon is a real treat and a true gem.

When I open the bag I smell a fishy smell, not overpowering but noticeable, and not really anything else. The strips vary in size and are sliced rather thin. The jerky is rigid, a good thing, and it has some moistness on the jerky. Therefore there is moistness on your fingers as you handle it.
When I bite into the jerky I am met with decent salt, practically no sweet, both good things. The pepper flavor is coming through in spades, another plus. I have to admit I am not a fan of fish in my jerky, but this particular make and model is absolutely delicious. I concur 100% with Stephane, this jerky is spectacular. Notice how I typically put the word “jerky” in quotes because I do not feel that anything other than beef should be considered jerky, but this salmon jerky is definitely an exception. A no-brainer, absolute 10/10, no shadow of a doubt.
This 2 ounce/57 gram bag of jerky sold for $6.49. That equates to $3.25 an ounce, which rates as a cheap price.

This plastic, resealable bag has everything imprinted on the front and back. There are several illustrations of salmon.
A slogan printed on this bag is “Hooked at First Bite!” Some facts printed are “Atlantic Salmon”, “Sustainably Farmed”, “1100mg Omega-3 Fatty Acids”, “KSA Kosher”, “12g Protein”, “Only 1g Sugar”, and “Made in the USA”.
The only missing bag category is a transparent window to view the jerky. A good blurb about the flavor and salmon used is printed on the back.
