This Aufschnitt Meats brand name is distributed by Aufschnitt Meats LLC, and are located in Baltimore, Maryland, Aufschnitt Meats was founded by two brothers-in-law with a passion to continue their family tradition started in Europe over 75 years ago. Their focus is on artisanal jerky made in small batches. Kosher turkey is used, meaning the food is allowed for consumption under Jewish dietary guidelines. This jerky is advertised to be all natural, low sugar, no MSG type of ingredients, and low in fat.
Ingredient Review
Ingredients: Turkey, Sea Salt, Brown Sugar, Garlic Powder, Ginger, Black Pepper, Celery Juice Powder, Natural Smoke Flavor.
The turkey is ethically raised, meaning no growth hormones or additional antibiotics are administered. There is no guarantee of the turkey having free range access. As a result, the highest ingredient rating that can be awarded is a Very Good (9/10) rating.
There is no liquid marinade used, where you could consider this a dry rub, or old fashioned jerky.
There are healthy spices used such as garlic powder and black pepper. Ginger is in the same plant family as turmeric, and has a long medicinal history.
The sugar level is excellent at under 1 gram of sugar per 28 grams of jerky. The salt level is good at 280mg of salt per 28 grams of jerky.
This jerky does qualify to have no sodium nitrite, or any other similar unhealthy preservatives. Instead, the main preservative used is sea salt, which is high in minerals and trace minerals. To a lesser extent, celery juice powder acts as a preservative with its naturally occurring nitrates. Admirably, there is no MSG added.

Taste Review
These strips of jerky are small in size, and mostly sliced thin. The texture is not overly dry, and is easy to chew. There are no signs of fat, and handling this jerky leaves no oily residue on your fingers.
Quickly the ginger flavor takes notice. As advertised, it finishes off with a light levels of garlic and black pepper. A great deal of natural turkey flavor dominates with the absence of sweetness, and sets this flavor apart from others.
A subtle smoked taste compliments the flavor well. Overall, while not bold tasting, this taste delivers exactly as advertised on a great ginger flavor with a garlic and black pepper finish. Note that the ginger taste is strongest when first opening the bag, where the ginger flavor starts to dissipate much after even 24 hours.
A 2 ounce/57 gram bag sells online for $6.99. That works out to $3.50 an ounce, which rates as an expensive price. For any fan of turkey jerky, ginger, garlic, and black pepper, you cannot go wrong here.

This eye-catching resealable plastic bag has everything imprinted on the bag itself, both on the front and back. There are no labels attached to this bag. The transparent window is interesting, being the breast of a turkey.
Their slogan is “Olde World Butchering Skillfully Crafted With Modern Day Technology”. Some facts printed on this bar are “Low Fat”, “Good Source of Protein”, “Minimally Processed”, “No Artificial Ingredients”, “Premium Products”, “Gluten Free”, “Natural & Kosher”, “No Nitrites”, “Questions? Comments?”, and “Try Aufschnitt Basil Lime Turkey Jerky!”.
This bag displays two “Glatt Kosher” logos, which implies that the meat used had a higher standard of inspection. Specifically, post slaughter, the animal lungs are examined to determine if they are smooth or defect free.
