Sunday, September 10, 2017 Leave a Comment

4 Seasons Jerky - Chile Limón Beef JerkyThe next review for 4 Seasons Jerky will be on a 2 ounce/56.7 gram bag of their Chile Limón flavored beef jerky. This jerky is advertised as a mix of lime juice and chili peppers to form a savory snack. The owner, Thom Le, which is short for Thomas, kindly submitted this bag of jerky for review.

This 4 Seasons Jerky brand name is distributed under the same name of 4 Seasons Jerky, and they are based out of Highland, California. Thom is an avid outdoorsman, and started making homemade jerky to keep up his energy level. His jerky became a big hit with his friends, and in October 2016, Thom launched this 4 Seasons Jerky brand. Their motto is “Quality Jerky For Any Occasion, All Year Long”. Kudos to Thom who works tirelessly on 4 Seasons Jerky, with plenty of things on the go.

Ingredient Review

Ingredients: Beef, Chili Pepper, Lime Juice, Black Pepper, Soy Sauce, Worcestershire Sauce, Smoke Liquid, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Red Crush Pepper, Other Spices.    Allergen Warnings: Anchovies, Soy, Wheat

4 Seasons Jerky - Chile Limón Beef JerkyThe beef used is not guaranteed to be free of growth hormones or additional antibiotics. Also, the beef is not guaranteed to have at least partial free range access to graze on grass. As a result, the highest ingredient rating that can be awarded is a Good (8/10) rating.

4 Seasons Jerky - Chile Limón Beef JerkyThe liquid marinade consists of a decent soy sauce, a good Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke, and lime juice. The citrus fruit lime offers many health benefits.

4 Seasons Jerky - Chile Limón Beef JerkyHealthy spices are used such as black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and other spices.

The heat is achieved from the chili peppers and crushed red peppers. Hot peppers are healthy if eaten in moderation, which flush toxins out of the body.

The sugar level is great at only 1 gram of sugar per 28 grams of jerky. The salt level is reasonable at 340mg of salt per 28 grams of jerky.

This jerky does qualify to have no sodium nitrite, or any other similar unhealthy preservatives. Instead, the main preservative used is salt. Commendably, there is no MSG added.

Good (8/10) – Ingredient Rating

Taste Review

These strips of jerky are medium in size, and sliced thin. The texture is dry, and reasonably easy to chew. There are some signs of fat, which enhances the natural beef flavor. No oily residue is left on your fingers while handling this jerky.

The first flavors detected are mild levels of salt, garlic, and black pepper. Soon, a strong, very tasty lime flavor takes notice. Mixed in at a light level is a great ratio of soy and Worcestershire sauce.

The spiciness does hold up to a mild level at best. On a heat scale, the spiciness would rate a 2 out of 5. There is no sweetness present, which allows a great deal of natural beef flavor. Overall, the flavor delivers with a great level of limón, and a reasonable amount of spiciness.

A 2 ounce/56.7 gram bag sells online for $5.50. That works out to $2.75 an ounce, which rates as an average price. Free shipping is offered on any order over $35. This flavor is absolutely recommended to any fans of lime or lemon with a little spiciness.

Excellent (10/10) – Taste Rating

Bag Review

This clear non-resealable plastic bag has a label affixed to the front, and a sticker on the back, The logo is mountains, which illustrates the outdoors.
