The next review for 4 Seasons Jerky will be on a 2 ounce/56.7 gram bag of their Sweet & Spicy Black Pepper flavored beef jerky. This flavor is described as their spin on the traditional black pepper recipe, where “sweet and spicy” adds a kick to this savory delight. The owner, Thom Le, which is short for Thomas, graciously submitted this bag of jerky for review.
This 4 Seasons Jerky brand name is distributed under the same name of 4 Seasons Jerky, and they are based out of Highland, California. Thom is an avid outdoorsman, and started making homemade jerky to keep up his energy level. His jerky became a big hit with his friends, and in October 2016, Thom launched this 4 Seasons Jerky brand. Their motto is “Quality Jerky For Any Occasion, All Year Long”. Kudos to Thom who works tirelessly on 4 Seasons Jerky, with plenty of things on the go.
Ingredient Review
Ingredients: Beef, Black Pepper, Soy Sauce, Worcestershire Sauce, Smoke Liquid, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Red Crush Pepper, Other Spices. Allergen Warnings: Anchovies, Soy, Wheat
The beef used is not guaranteed to be free of growth hormones or additional antibiotics. Also, the beef is not guaranteed to have at least partial free range access to graze on grass. As a result, the highest ingredient rating that can be awarded is a Good (8/10) rating.
The liquid marinade consists of a decent soy sauce, a good Worcestershire sauce, and liquid smoke.
Healthy spices are used such as black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and other spices. Some people call black pepper the King of Spices.
The sugar level is acceptable for a sweet based flavor as we have here at 5 grams of sugar per 28 grams of jerky. The salt level is also acceptable at 330mg of salt per 28 grams of jerky.
This jerky does qualify to have no sodium nitrite, or any other similar unhealthy preservatives. Instead, the main preservative used is salt. Commendably, there is no MSG added.

Taste Review
These strips are mostly medium is size, and sliced thin. The texture is dry, which does require some effort to chew. There are no visible signs of fat, and handling this jerky leaves no oily residue on your fingers.
The first taste detected is a good level of black pepper. Chewing the jerky more brings on a perfect soy/Worcestershire sauce ratio. There is only a light amount of spiciness present, which would rate no higher than a 1 out of 4 on the heat scale.
At light levels are the garlic, salt, and onion. There is not much sweetness present, which allows a decent amount of natural beef flavor. Overall, this flavor delivers on the peppered taste, with added light levels of sweet & spicy.
A 2 ounce/56.7 gram bag sells online for $5.50. That works out to $2.75 an ounce, which rates as an average price. Free shipping is offered on any order over $35. This flavor is surely recommended to any fans of black pepper.
