JerkyPro – Honey Glazed Shredded 100% Grass-Fed Beef Jerky

Thursday, December 21, 2017 1 Comment

JerkyPro - Honey Glazed Shredded 100% Grass-Fed Beef JerkyThe next review for JerkyPro will focus on a 3 ounce/85 gram bag of their Honey Glazed flavored 100% grass-fed shredded beef jerky. In August 2017, this honey glazed flavor was named the TasteTV Top Artisan Jerky Award Winner. The jerky bag was graciously submitted for review by the JerkyPro Team.

This JerkyPro brand is distributed under the name of JerkyPro, LLC., and it is located in Chillicothe, Ohio. JerkyPro was officially established in late 2015 by military/paramilitary veterans. Their jerky is manufactured in Rexburg, Idaho, in a facility that has 20,000 square feet of operating space, and employs 27 people. While JerkyPro does not prefer one target audience over another, they are actively engaged in xGames, eSports, MMA, competitive motorsports, and military efforts. Earlier this year, JerkyPro was named the TasteTV “Top Artisan Jerky Award Winner” for 2017.

Ingredient Review

Ingredients: Beef, Brown Sugar, Teriyaki Sauce, Honey, Vinegar, Water, Pineapple Juice, Salt, Garlic, Onion, Black Pepper, Smoked Flavoring, Sodium Nitrite.    Allergen Warnings: Wheat

JerkyPro - Honey Glazed Shredded 100% Grass-Fed Beef JerkyThis jerky uses 100% grass-fed beef, the way nature intended. These cattle are raised ethically, meaning they are not fed growth hormones, or additional antibiotics. There is also some free range access for the cattle to roam about.

The liquid marinade used here is comprised of water, a wheat based teriyaki sauce, a locally sourced brand of Ohio honey, super healthy vinegar, and healthy pineapple juice. Honey has antibacterial and antifungal properties, among multiple other benefits.

Some healthy ingredients are used such as garlic, onion, and black pepper.

The sugar level is high at 7 grams of sugar per 28 grams of jerky. For a sweet based flavor as we have here, our preference is 5 grams of sugar or less per 28 grams of jerky. The salt level is high at 560mg of salt per 28 grams of jerky. However, that is negated because granulated sea salt is used, where salt levels are therefore ignored.

This jerky does not qualify to have no nitrites, as sodium nitrite is used as a preservative. Admirably, this flavor does qualify to be MSG free.

Taste Review

Mazel Tov!

JerkyPro has definitely hit a homerun with this tasty and very cleverly developed jerky. As I opened the bag, I was met right off the bat with a beautiful blend of smokiness and honey wrapped in the mild perfume of the alliums family The flavor profile begins with the sweetness of honey and brown sugar, followed by very subtle notes of garlic and onion and this great flavor completes its journey with a slight kiss of black pepper.

The texture is nicely tender and it is a great medium to deliver added flavor. The idea of shredding this tender jerky is genius; it makes portioning a breeze and exponentially decreases kids choking hazards. This jerky is becoming increasingly more popular and it is a great and healthy protein snack for kids and adults alike.

This shredded jerky brings so much wonderful flavor and it is ideal as a topping in salads, pizzas or pancakes. I also believe the savory option would bring even more versatility and a great option on many more pizzas, sandwiches, grilled cheeses, burgers and a sprinkle on a baked potato, poutine or omelets to name just a few will certainly be absolutely delightful. The possibilities are endless and perhaps one day we will refer to mustard, ketchup and shredded jerky in the same sentence while preparing our favorite burgers and such.

I really enjoy this great texture and flavor and I look forward to savor more and other great flavors from JerkyPro, I highly recommend this fine jerky and rate it 10/10.

A 3 ounce/85 gram bag sells online for $8.49. That works out to $2.83 an ounce, which rates as a borderline average price. Ordering a 1 pound bag order puts you into the cheap price range.

Bag Review

This clear resealable bag has a label affixed to the front, and nothing on the back. The JerkyPro logo is a cow’s head on a totally pumped up human body.

There are no slogans printed on this bag. One fact displayed is “Made in America With U.S. Beef”.

The only bag category missing is a blurb about JerkyPro and this honey glazed flavor.
