The next review on Freedom Jerky will be on a 2.5 ounce/70.9 gram bag of their Tactical Teriyaki flavored beef jerky. This Tactical Teriyaki flavor is described as having that sweet and savory flavor that we all love. The jerky bag was kindly submitted for review by lead role, and former combat veteran, Jonathan Chia.
Freedom Jerky is distributed by Freedom Jerky, LLC, and they are located in Stilwell, Kansas, who launched on Veterans Day November 11/2017. Every bag of jerky sold supports the nonprofit, War Horses for Veterans, a powerful equestrian healing experience for combat veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) adjusting back to civilian life. At no cost, combat veterans go to their farm for three days in Stilwell, Kansas, and experience horsemanship. The lasting effects of the connection and trust built between the horse and veteran is like no other.
Former combat veteran and lead actor of the upcoming Sons of Anarchy spinoff Mayans Vincent “Rocco” Vargas partnered with Freedom Jerky, and also to promote the benefits of War Horses for Veterans. All Freedom Jerky is made in small batches using a quality cut of USDA beef, which is MSG and nitrate free.

This liquid marinade used here is comprised of a decent soy sauce, healthy pineapple juice, a decent chili sauce, an alright seasoned rice vinegar, and healthy sesame oil. Pineapples contain an enzyme named bromelain, which acts as a natural meat tenderizer in the food industry.
The sugar level is great at only 1 gram of sugar per 28 grams of jerky. The salt level is on the higher side at 470mg of salt per 28 grams of jerky.
This jerky qualifies to have no sodium nitrite, or any other similar unhealthy preservative. Instead, salt is the main preservative used, and vinegar to a lesser degree. With more kudos to Freedom Jerky, this jerky has no MSG added.

Taste Review
Written by guest jerky reviewer Stéphane Leclerc
The Freedom Jerky Tactical Teriyaki Beef Jerky aroma has a great fragrance and it pleasantly sways between the soy sauce and the vinegar.
In my initial bite, I’ve tasted a light level of sweetness and saltiness and a delightful soy sauce. These light flavors are paired with a subtle acidity/tanginess of acetic acid (white vinegar), citric acid (lemon juice) and seasoned rice vinegar. These vinegars are a welcome addition, as they brighten the overall flavor profile.
This jerky is obviously carefully and cleverly crafted, it is packed with bold and exciting flavors. The Freedom Jerky chili sauce is the bomb. It is a nice blend of flavors and does absolute wonders for this jerky. This jerky showcases a great natural beef flavor unlike most highly sweetened Teriyaki flavors, as it often dampens the natural beef flavor.
Although the sweetness is at a minimum, this jerky is reminiscent of a classic Teriyaki flavor. The level of sweetness may possibly be a little more accentuated but it is currently fine and well balanced, as the pineapple juice with its natural fruitiness picks up nicely and delivers a great tasting product.
These strips of jerky are mainly medium in size and sliced to a medium thickness. This soft, tender and easily chewable texture is enhanced by a slightly dry or crunchy bite. These beef strips are sliced against the grain and appear to be made with high quality beef.
I’d recommend this great Freedom Jerky Tactical Teriyaki Beef Jerky to carbohydrate (Carbs) conscious jerky lovers as well as amateurs of great and bold flavors. This is a fun and highly addictive beef jerky; it is without a doubt a cut above your average Teriyaki flavor and among the best Teriyaki flavors.
Paul stated: “It definitely has that Teriyaki flavor to it, no doubt, and it is a cut above your average teriyaki flavor. The tastes are all meshing well together; it’s an enjoyable jerky treat. I can’t really find a fault with this flavor”. I feel the same way!
Unfortunately, we were not unanimous but we still rated this wonderful treat a 10/10 taste rating. This is the law of averaging or the median! …life sucks! …let’s get a helmet! : – )
A 2.5 ounce/70.9 gram bag of jerky sells online for $7.00, which works out to $2.80 an ounce. That would rate as an average price.

Bag Review
This white plastic resealable bag has a label affixed to the front, and nothing on the back. The Freedom Jerky logo has a cool, interesting looking bull’s head in the middle.
While maybe not official, the slogan printed on this bag is “Each Bag Helps War Horses For Veterans”. Some facts printed are “Award Winning”, “American Made”, and “Natural Smoke Flavoring Added”.
The only bag category missing is a blurb printed about Freedom Jerky, or this American Original flavor. To the credit of Freedom Jerky, a toll free phone number is provided for customer inquiries.
