Hombre Authentic Beef Jerky is distributed by Pyle Meat Products LLC, and they are located in Eudora, Kansas. Pyle Meat Products LLC was started way back in 1959 by Thomas Pyle. They made a commitment to bringing high-quality, authentic meat products to the “Salt of the Earth” people, loved from Topeka, KS to the Kansas City Metro. This Hombre Authentic Beef Jerky brand was officially launched in 1980. Over the years, all seven of Thomas’ children have worked for the company at one time or another, and now grandchildren also. Impressively, Hombre Authentic Beef Jerky won the Kansas Meat Processors Association grand champion jerky award in 2015 and 2016.

Ingredients: Beef, Seasoning (Salt, Pepper, Monosodium Glutamate, Sodium Erythorbate, Maple Sugar, Onion Powder, Natural Spice Extractives), Soy Sauce (Water, Wheat, Soybeans, Salt), Worcestershire Sauce (Distilled White Vinegar, Molasses, Corn Syrup, Water, Salt, Caramel Color, Sugar, Spices, Anchovy Puree, Natural Flavor, Tamarind), Dipped in a solution of Potassium Sorbate to retard mold growth. Allergen Warnings: Soy, Wheat, Anchovies
The beef used is not guaranteed to be free of growth hormones or additional antibiotics. Also, the beef is not guaranteed to have at least partial free range access to graze on grass. As a result, the highest ingredient rating that can be awarded is a Good (8/10) rating.
The liquid marinade consists of a decent soy sauce and an alright Worcestershire sauce.
There are some healthy ingredients added such as black pepper, onion powder, and natural spice extractives.
There is no nutrition facts table provided. As a result, the exact sugar and salt levels are unknown. Based on the taste alone, the salt level used here 100% guaranteed exceeds our preference of 350mg of salt or less per 28 grams of jerky. There would seem to be just a minor amount of sugar used.
This jerky does not qualify to be sodium nitrite free, as similar unhealthy preservatives sodium erythorbate and potassium sorbate are used here. This flavor does not qualify to be MSG free, where monosodium glutamate itself is used.

I was first slightly taken aback by the saltiness of this Hombre Beef Jerky – Original Beef Jerky. I took a bite, another and then another. The more I chewed; the taste just kept getting better and better. I truly enjoy these large and dry pieces of beefy goodness. These strips are irregularly sliced and they range from thick to extra thick. This irregularity in thickness adds character and flavor to this beef jerky. I am also charmed by an amazingly flavorful layer of freshly cracked black pepper, it keeps adding to the richness and decadence of this addictive jerky treat. Although this jerky is quite dry, it is still easy to chew being sliced against the grain and bursting with a lot of natural beef flavor and smokiness.
There are plenty of great flavors coming from their own seasoning, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce and the anchovies. The great natural flavor of beef is well displayed and especially in the thicker pieces. The smokiness adds another fantastic layer to this already rich and decadent flavor profile.
This beef jerky is really tasty and bold and aside from the unmistakable saltiness, their own blend of seasoning with the soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce and the anchovies are creating an interesting and delicious flavor profile. Each strip creates its own delectable experience in flavor and texture as it keeps building on the previous one.
This to me is how a real Original flavor should taste and was meant to be. It is simple, bold, and full of rich, decadent flavor and it is addictive as heck!

This is a jerky texture and flavor which goes back to the way it used to be made back in the olden days when people had to dry their beef in order to preserve it over the months… and this wouldn’t be the case in my pantry, this Hombre Beef Jerky – Original Beef Jerky would be gone before anyone could yell scissors!
