As part of our annual commitment to update the cheap, average, and expensive prices in the United States online jerky industry, we introduce our ninth annual 2025 jerky price ranges update. For the second year in a row, the price ranges of twenty-two jerky types were updated. Only turkey, biltong, python, and salmon had a lower price per ounce of jerky in 2025.
When I first started this jerky review website in 2014, I established what I thought were reasonable cheap, average, and expensive price ranges per ounce of beef jerky. As each year passed, fewer and fewer beef jerky bags were classified under the cheap price range, and more and more jerky bags were classified as expensive. From 2014 to 2016, I based the jerky price ranges solely on jerky bags that we had reviewed. Starting in 2017, I opened it up to various other jerky brands, which were tracked in an Excel spreadsheet. Each year, I added more and more jerky brands to those Excel spreadsheets, including those for other jerky types, such as bacon, pork, bison, turkey, etc.
In 2020, when all this lockdown nonsense was introduced, I published a post dedicated to the price of one pound of beef jerky. Much to my surprise, that post ended up getting thousands of page hits according to Google Analytics. In 2022, I expanded these dedicated jerky price updates to beef, turkey, biltong, and another one pound of jerky. Again, some of these posts received thousands of page views. In publishing these dedicated jerky price updates, I can now show the viewer how these price updates were established, copying all the jerky makers from my Excel spreadsheets into the corresponding jerky type price updates.
Using beef jerky prices per ounce updates as an example, the 2022 and 2023 beef jerky price updates tracked 300 jerky brands. The 2024 beef jerky price update tracked 310 brands of jerky. Keep in mind that every year, jerky makers go out of business, do not sell their jerky online anymore, only sell jerky in sizes over 4 ounces, or temporarily are out of stock. In the 2024 jerky price update, I predicted that the 2025 beef jerky update would track 450 to 500 beef jerky brands, as I had found over 200 beef jerky brands not tracked in the 2024 beef jerky price update. Well, I was able to find 410 beef jerky brands. This leaves me to believe that I will not be able to find over 410 beef jerky makers, let alone 400 in the 2026 Beef Jerky Update from the United States. As of August 28, I have 64 new beef jerky brands for the 2026 Beef Jerky Update.
The jerky prices are calculated by adding the lowest and highest ranges of the average price, then dividing by two. E.g. the average price range is $3.00 – $4.00, then the jerky price would be $3.50.
Again, using the price of beef jerky per ounce, the price rose 61 cents (27%) from 2014 to 2017. From 2017 to 2021, the price of jerky remained relatively steady, increasing 9 cents. From 2021 to 2025, the price of beef jerky per ounce has risen 82 cents (30%). The price of beef jerky is increasing noticeably, with no end in sight to more inflation. The question is, are we going to reach hyperinflation? One can look no further than their local grocery store to see how the cost of food has risen in recent years. Based on the bar chart, it is expected that beef jerky prices will continue to increase.
Here is a summary of what jerky prices changed in 2025.
- Beef jerky per ounce increased by 17 cents, and the average price range expanded by 34 cents.
- One pound of beef jerky increased by 1 cent.
- Grass fed jerky price per ounce increased by 7 cents.
- Biltong per ounce decreased by 3 cents, and the cheap price range decreased by 5 cents.
- Meat Stick per ounce increased by 2 cents, and the average price range expanded by 3 cents.
- Bacon jerky per ounce increased by 23 cents, and the average price range decreased by 21 cents.
- Pork jerky per ounce increased by 22 cents. The cheap price range was expanded by 42, and the average price range was decreased by 40 cents.
- Bison jerky per ounce increased by 22 cents, and the average price range increased by 35 cents.
- Elk jerky price per ounce increased by 66 cents, and the average price range expanded by 35 cents.
- Venison jerky price per ounce increased by 12 cents, and the cheap price range was expanded by 25 cents.
- Kangaroo jerky per ounce increased by 42 cents, and the cheap price range expanded by 75 cents.
- Wild Boar jerky per ounce increased by 69 cents, and the cheap price range expanded by 63 cents.
- Turkey jerky per ounce decreased by 8 cents, and the average price range decreased by 15 cents.
- Chicken jerky per ounce increased by 34 cents, the cheap price range expanded by 17, and the average price range expanded by 34 cents.
- Salmon jerky per ounce decreased by 14 cents, and the average price range of salmon jerky decreased by 27 cents per ounce.
- Tuna jerky per ounce increased by 74 cents, and the cheap price range expanded by 50 cents.
- Alligator jerky per ounce increased by 58 cents, the cheap price range expanded by 83 cents, and the expensive price range decreased by 25 cents.
- Python jerky per ounce decreased by $1.00, the cheap price range decreased by $2.00, and the average price range increased by $2.00.
- Tuna jerky per ounce remained the same.
- Mushroom jerky per ounce increased by 11 cents, and the cheap price range increased by 22 cents.
- Vegan jerky per ounce increased by 40 cents, and all price ranges increased by 40 cents.
