Backwoods Chef Eddie is the creator of the 3B’s Pub Jerky brand name that was officially launched in 2006. 3B’s meaning Beer, Babes, and Burgers/Beef. Eddie was a U.S. Army paratrooper having served during the Cold war era defending a border with the 11th ACR from a possible threat. Growing up in the Backwoods and hunting in his home state of Virginia, he became an avid hunter following traditional Native American ways of hunting building natural blinds, hunting from trees, or stalking his prey. Whitetail deer and wild turkey were his favorite choices for jerky.
All meat is harvested and not wasted. With the harvest of those hunts, the earliest jerky recipes were created, which have evolved into the recipes that they use with their beef jerky today. This 3B’s Pub Jerky brand name is located in Elkton, Virginia, and it is distributed under the same name of 3B’s Pub Jerky.
The next review for 3B’s Pub Jerky will focus on a 1 ounce/28 gram bag of their fakin’ bacon flavored beef jerky. This Fakin’ Bacon beef jerky flavor is described as a sweet, bacony flavored jerky with hints of hickory and brown sugar. The jerky was graciously submitted for review by the Founder/Owner/Creator, Backwoods Chef Eddie Kirby.

Taste Review
Written by guest jerky reviewer Paul Rekker
When I open the bag I smell soy. The pieces are small in size, and they are sliced to a medium thickness. The jerky is chewy and dry, and it leaves no oily residue on your fingers.
The first flavors I detect are salt, black pepper, garlic, (a bit too much) sweet, and natural beef.
I do detect a bacon flavor in the background, it is coming through at a decent level for me. This is maybe contributing to why the jerky tastes so sweet.
Either way, this jerky, outside of the jerky being too sweet, is hitting on all the right notes. I even detect a slight kick to the jerky, as I visually see chili flakes on the strips of jerky.
I will deduct a point for too much sweet, but, outside of that, this is a pretty decent tasting flavor. A 9/10 gentlemen.
Here is what Mark had to say about this Fakin’ Bacon beef jerky flavor from 3B’s Pub Jerky: “Stéphane and I pretty much agree with Paul. Below is my review.”
“The first tastes detected are arguably a too high level of sweetness, that familiar great tasting Worcestershire/soy sauce ratio, and a mild level of saltiness. This jerky texture is borderline candied with the sugar. In the background is a subtle smoked taste that rounds off the flavor, the lovely sweetness from onions, and some foreign flavor that somewhat resembles bacon.”
“While this flavor is described as tasting bacony, it is unmistakably beefy tasting. The overall complex taste profile tastes great, and is well-balanced. However, it seems a near impossible job to capture a bacon flavor using beef as opposed to pork. This Fakin’ Bacon flavor could very well pass as an original beef jerky flavor, but interesting tasting nonetheless.”
“This jerky was shared between 9 people, where the theme was the same. This flavor tastes good to very good, but does not resemble bacon all that much. Here are the official ratings between the Group of Seven (Mark – 8.5, Paul – 9, Stéphane – 8.5, Nolan – 8, Mark M. – 8, Sid – 7, Ava – 7.5)”.
A 1 ounce/28 gram bag sells for $5.00, which rates as an expensive price. The price is cheaper at $3.12 an ounce if you order a pound of jerky from the 3B’s Pub Jerky web site.
