Ingredient Review
Ingredients: Beef, Soy Sauce (Water, Wheat, Soybeans, Salt), Water, Teriyaki Sauce (Brewed Soy Sauce) (Water, Wheat, Soybeans, Salt), Water, Vinegar, Sugar, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Ginger Powder, Liquid Smoke (Water, Natural Smoke Flavor, Vinegar, Molasses, Caramel Color), Red Pepper. Allergen Warnings: Soy, Wheat
The beef used is not guaranteed to be free of growth hormones or additional antibiotics. Also, the beef is not guaranteed to have at least partial free range access to graze on grass. As a result, the highest ingredient rating that can be awarded is a Good (8/10) rating.
The liquid marinade consists of soy sauce, water, vinegar, teriyaki sauce, and liquid smoke. Both the soy and teriyaki sauce’s ingredient lists are good.
Red Peppers are used to generate the spiciness, and are healthy if eaten in moderation. The trifecta of super healthy vegetables used in powdered form is achieved with garlic powder, onion powder, and ginger powder.
It does not get any better than having no sugar. The salt level is extremely low at only 65mg of salt per 28 grams of jerky.
As advertised, this jerky has no sodium nitrite, or any other similar unhealthy preservatives added. Just plain old salt is the preservative. Admirably, there is also no MSG added.

Taste Review
These hand sliced jerky strips are mainly small in size, and are mostly cut to a medium thickness. The texture is dry, but not overly dry. The thinner slices are easier to chew than some of the thicker strips. There are some minor visible signs of fat that contribute to the overall taste. Handling this jerky leaves no oily residue on your fingers.
The first taste detected is the natural beef flavor. There is a medium soy flavor, and the Worcestershire taste is at a moderate level. All along there is a smoked taste in the background. With the absence of any sweetness, the natural beef flavor really stands out.
Being a hot flavor, the heat is not all that strong. Overall, great tasting but not more than a mild spiciness.
You can purchase a six pack of this jerky for $22.50 from the Strollo’s web site. That works out to $3.83 a bag, which works out to $2.55 an ounce. That rates as a moderately expensive price. The price does get cheaper if you buy 12 or 24 bags. This jerky is a worthy healthy snack without being too spicy.
Very Good (9/10) – Taste Rating
Bag Review
This is a standard, somewhat small sized bag. There is a label affixed to the front, and nothing on the back. The Strollo’s logo is interesting, which shows a tough looking cow beating somebody up. On the floor is a baseball cap that states “Competitor”.
Strollo’s slogan printed on the bag is “Our Meat Can’t Be Beat”. There are facts printed such as “No Preservatives”, “Low Sodium”, “No Artificial Ingredients”, “Minimally Processed”, and “Smoke Flavor Added”.
All the important bag categories are addressed with this bag. There is no blurb about Strollo’s, but in fairness, this is a small bag only containing 1.5 ounce/42 grams.
