This jerky is distributed under the same name of 5K Bison & Boar Ranch, who are located in Hagersville, Ontario, Canada. This ranch is owned by Bob Ramaniuk and Doreen Sarrazin, where they launched their line of bison and wild boar jerky in 2015. The bison and wild boar are humanely raised at their ranch, and the ingredients used in the jerky are wholesome. In addition to St. Jacobs Market, they sell their jerky at a store in Hagersville, Ontario, Canada. 5K represents the five children that they have whose name starts with K (Katie, Karter, Keeleigh, Khloe, Kaine).

The bison at 5K Bison & Boar Ranch are ethically raised, meaning not administered growth hormones or additional antibiotics. They also have free range access to roam about, just the way nature intended. It does not get much better than this.
The only liquid marinade used is an alright brand of barbecue sauce. There are plenty of super healthy spices used.
There is no nutrition facts table provided. As a result, the exact sugar and salt levels are unknown. Based on the taste alone, they seem to be at light levels.
This jerky qualifies to have no sodium nitrite, or any other similar preservative. Instead, salt is used as the main preservative. Admirably, this jerky qualifies to have no MSG added.

These strips of jerky are mainly medium in size, and sliced to a medium thickness. There is a dry texture, which is challenging to chew. Some strips have stringy parts that are difficult to chew. There are little signs of fat, and handling this jerky leaves no oily residue on your fingers.
No defined taste really jumps out at first. There is very little sweetness, and the saltiness is at a mild level. Both the garlic and onion are at light levels.
As for the natural bison flavor, there is only a light gamey level. It is similar to beef, just slightly richer tasting. The flavor tends to finish off with a light smoked flavor. Overall, while not a strong flavor, it is pleasant tasting, but on the bland side.
This 2 ounce/56 gram bag of jerky cost $10.00. That works out to $5.00 an ounce, which rates as an expensive price. From a health perspective this jerky is certainly recommended, although be prepared to give your teeth a work out.
