The next review on Sophia’s Survival Food will focus on a 1 ounce/28 gram bag of their mild flavored 100% grass-fed beef jerky. This bag was graciously submitted for review by Chief Survivalist Sophia Dubrovina.
Sophia’s Survival Food is distributed under the same name of Sophia’s Survival Food, and it is located in Santa Clara, California. Sophia found it challenging to find a healthy brand of jerky, so she started making her own jerky. Soon her jerky became a hit with her friends and family. In 2011, Sophia officially launched this Sophia’s Survival Food jerky brand. Only 100% grass-fed beef and all natural ingredients are used. Sophia’s Survival Food is Whole 30 Approved, paleo friendly, and is tailored towards people who have food allergens or sensitivities.
Ingredient Review
Ingredients: Grass-Fed Beef, Lemon Juice, Redmond Unrefined Sea Salt, Garlic, Black Pepper.
This 100% grass-fed beef is sourced from Richards Grassfeed Beef in northern California, where Sophia makes it a focus to source beef from small ranchers in the USA. The jerky qualifies to be ethically raised, meaning no growth hormones or additional antibiotics are given. Also, the cattle used in this jerky qualifies to have free range access to roam about and graze on grass, the way nature intended.
The liquid marinade used here is just healthy lemon juice. Lemons are loaded with vitamin C, antioxidants, and flavonoids, all of which have anti-cancer properties.
Commendably, there is no sugar used in this jerky. Also to Sophia’s credit, the salt level is low at 200mg of salt per 28 grams of jerky.
This jerky qualifies to have no sodium nitrite, or any other similar unhealthy preservative. Instead, mineral rich minimally processed Redmond Real Salt is the main preservative. With more kudos to Sophia’s Survival Food, this jerky has no MSG added.

Taste Review
Written by guest jerky reviewer Stéphane Leclerc
This 100% Grass-Fed Mild Beef Jerky by Sophia’s Survival Food is a simple, no muss no fuss jerky and yet it is jam packed with amazing flavor.
These strips are very lean, medium sized and thinly sliced. The natural beef flavor is wonderfully showcased and well complimented by the black pepper, a little acidity from the lemons and slight tones of garlic. It does not get much healthier than this with 100% grass-fed beef and minimally added ingredients.
The high quality of this beef and a generous sprinkle of TLC (Tender Loving Care) makes this jerky really shine and leaves us longing for more. They compel us in eating a piece, another piece, then another and another.
As the old saying goes: “Less is More” and Sophia’s Survival Foods – Mild 100% Grass-Fed Beef Jerky is a good example of that.
We highly recommend this jerky to any fan of natural beef flavor; it is exceptionally well crafted for the true carnivore within all of us.
We really enjoyed this jerky and rate it 10/10.
In conclusion, I’d like to share a touching story. A soldier stationed overseas was recently browsing the Jerky Ingredients website. He was excited to learn that Sophia’s Survival Food actually ships to the troops, as there are not many other companies offering healthier food alternatives to our troops overseas. This is an incredible show of support to all of these brave and courageous men and women putting their lives on the line every day.
On behalf of everyone at Jerky Ingredients and Sophia’s Survival Food: “Thank You for your Service” God Bless!
A 2 ounce/56 gram bag of jerky sells online for $6.99, which works out to $3.50 an ounce. That would rate as an expensive price.

Bag Review
The bag displayed at the bottom is a 2oz mild flavored bag, which Sophia very kindly sent us as a token of her appreciation for her reviews done to date.
This non-resealable plastic bag has a label affixed to the front, and a sticker on the back. The Sophia’s Survival Food logo has some fancy calligraphy.
There are no slogans printed on this bag. Some facts printed on this bag are “Made With 100% Grass-Fed Beef”, “Paleo Friendly Beef Jerky”, “Gluten Free”, and “Soy Free”.
The only bag category missing is a blurb printed about Sophia’s Survival Food and/or this mild flavor.
