The next review on Chops Beef Jerky will focus on a 2.75 ounce/79 gram bag of their teriyaki flavored beef jerky. This teriyaki flavor is described as a tangy alternative to the original flavor, with some added dimension to the ingredients, which results in a familiar, yet altogether new experience for consumers. The jerky bag was kindly submitted for review by the Head of Digital, Carole Gervasi.
Chops Beef Jerky is distributed by Chops Snacks, Inc., and it is located in New Haven, Connecticut. It all started in the summer of 2013, when after a long day at the country farm in the Pacific Northwest, Dusty Jaquins became thoroughly disappointed with the flavorless, tough jerky at his local store. After experimenting with some jerky recipes, Dusty, with his 30+ years of experience in the food industry, teamed up with Aaron Jones and Luke Sellers, who officially launched the Chops Beef Jerky brand in 2013. Only USDA Choice & Select brisket cuts of beef sourced from American beef are used. Chops Beef Jerky not only claims to have an exceptionally tender texture, they guarantee to have the most tender jerky texture on the market today. The Chops Beef Jerky motto is “Life’s Tough. Chew Easy”.
Ingredient Review
Ingredients: Beef Brisket, Low-Sodium Gluten-Free Tamari Sauce (Water, Soybeans, Salt, Alcohol), Brown Sugar, Pineapple Juice Concentrate, Granulated Garlic, Black Pepper, Ginger. Allergen Warnings: Soy
The beef brisket used here is guaranteed to be ethically raised, meaning free of growth hormones or additional antibiotics. These cattle are not guaranteed to have at least partial free range access to roam about. As a result, the highest ingredient rating that can be awarded is a Very Good (9/10) rating.
The liquid marinade used here is comprised of just a high-end low-sodium gluten-free tamari soy sauce, and healthy pineapple juice concentrate. The fruit pineapples are loaded with the antioxidant bromelain, which acts as a natural meat tenderizer in the food industry.
Some healthy ingredients are added such as black pepper, ginger, and granulated garlic.
The sugar level is on the high side at 7 grams of sugar per 28 grams of jerky. For a sweet based flavor as we have here, our preference is 5 grams of sugar per 28 grams of jerky. The salt level is acceptable at 330mg of salt per 28 grams of jerky.
This jerky qualifies to have no sodium nitrite, or any other similar unhealthy preservative. Instead, salt is the main preservative used. With more kudos to Chops Beef Jerky, this jerky has no MSG added.

Taste Review
Written by guest jerky reviewer Stéphane Leclerc
This Teriyaki Beef Brisket Jerky by Chops Beef Jerky is the bomb. It is exquisite and very likely one of the finest Teriyaki flavors that I’ve had so far.
I tore a small piece and tasted a significant sweetness, as should be the case with any teriyaki flavor. This was followed with the omnipresent mild taste of a good quality tamari sauce. The soy flavoring and sweetness to a certain extent tend to compete with the natural beef flavor. The lighter levels of garlic, salt and black pepper with the slight fruitiness of the pineapple juice and hint of ginger are subtly complimenting each other.
The Chops Beef Jerky company really pulled it off with this solid Teriyaki flavor. It is bursting with great flavors in every bite. The flavor profile is well balanced and the flavoring is consistent throughout the whole experience. The seasoning is complex and each ingredient shines without overwhelming each other. The exquisite marinade penetrates every nook and cranny and every little fiber of this sumptuous beef brisket. Undoubtedly, the brisket does a phenomenal job at swallowing every little drops of the rich and flavorful marinade. This jerky is highly addictive and it is certainly a better tasting version than most Teriyaki flavored beef jerky.
These strips are mainly medium in size and the thickness varies from thin to medium. The texture is highly tender, moist and very easy to chew. There are some visible signs of fat in these morsels of meat and a slight oily residue left on our fingers. Although, this meaty treat is fairly sweet, these little bits of fat accentuate the natural flavor of the beef. The strips are a bit sticky, where the strips tend to stick together in the bag and had to be unraveled.
Overall, I would highly recommend this Chops Teriyaki Beef Brisket Jerky flavor to fans of sweeter tasting jerky with a preference for soft, chewy and a super tender texture.
My reviewing partners felt it was a tad sweet but still felt it was at a reasonable level where they could live with it. I personally really enjoyed this great jerky, as it is tasty and possesses a lovely chewy and tender texture. We unanimously rated this jerky 10/10.
A 2.75 ounce/79 gram bag of jerky sells online for $6.99, which works out to $2.54 an ounce. That would rate as an average price.
