ED’S ROADHOUSE JERKY – SPICY BLOODY MARY BEEF JERKY
Written by guest jerky reviewer Paul Rekker
When I open the bag, I smell light soy. The pieces are medium in size, and they are sliced relatively thin. The jerky is soft, dry, and chewy. There is no oily residue left on your fingers when handling these jerky strips.
The first flavors that I encounter are salt, pepper, light sweet, and a slight spicy kick in the background. Since I’ve been told that it is a Bloody Mary flavor, I can determine the flavor ever-so-lightly, but it is not by any means prominent, likely because over time it has somewhat dissipated. This is my fault due to my procrastination issues, I should have reviewed this flavor sooner.
This jerky flavor is tasty, but not anywhere near the ‘Wow!’ factor. The spiciness could also have been dialed up a bit. I am leaning towards an 8 or 9/10, sort of at 8.5/10, so rounded up, it would be a 9/10. Gentlemen?
Stéphane Leclerc added: “I tasted this jerky a few days ago and I can vouch, the flavor was spot on while fresh.”
“I was in fact really impressed to see how close the taste of this jerky was to the actual drink. The spiciness was present, although not kicked up. I am fine with that, as I do not like spicy drinks.”
“P.S. I just thought I’d give my two grains of celery salt.”
Here is what Mark had to say about this Bloody Mary beef jerky flavor from Ed’s RoadHousE Jerky: “Thanks Stéphane and Paul for the honest taste reviews. I concur with Stéphane here. This bag was opened on Thursday evening when I gave Paul his portion while mentioning that the bag was vacuum-sealed. This is a normal practice, but when a flavor comes in a vacuum-sealed bag, the flavor does tend to dissipate fairly quickly. I just had my last strip now, and it is not even comparable to how it tasted on Thursday.”
“Ed’s RoadHousE Jerky does a fantastic job of capturing the Bloody Mary flavor itself. The fresh hot chili peppers were actually a distraction from the Bloody Mary flavor. On Thursday, the spiciness level was a solid 2 out of 4 on the heat scale. Today it is closer to a 1 out of 4. I thought that there was no need for any heat, but that is just a personal opinion and not worthy of a taste reduction.”
“Due to COVID-19, we are down to just three members from the Group of Seven. Stéphane was at a solid 10 taste rating but later noted that there was an aftertaste present for a while afterward. My only slight complaint, not really worthy though, is that the Bloody Mary flavor could have been a tad stronger, still again the fresh chili peppers were the real culprit overpowering the delicate Bloody Mary flavor profile. Otherwise, a tasty and addictive treat that leaves you wanting more.”
Ed’s RoadHousE Jerky sells online a 4 ounce/113 gram bag of jerky for $13.99. That equates to $3.50 an ounce, which rates at an expensive price.

This clear non-plastic resealable has a label affixed to the front and nothing on the back. This bag is vacuum-sealed, the best way to keep jerky fresh tasting.
A slogan printed on this bag in “Nobody Beats My Meat”. Some facts written are “All Natural”, “No Preservatives or Additives”, and “Made in USA”.
Some bag categories missing are allergen alerts, bar code, jerky weight not stated in grams, a USDA inspected stamp, and a best before date.
