Ingredients: Beef, Water, Salt, Pepper, Garlic Powder, Distilled Vinegar, Molasses, Sodium Nitrate, Sesame Seed Oil, Sesame Seeds, Cayenne Pepper, Soy Sauce, Wheat, Soy Beans, Dried Onion, Dried Garlic, Ginger Allergen Warnings: Soy, Wheat, Sesame
The beef used is not guaranteed to be free of growth hormones or additional antibiotics. Also, the beef is not guaranteed to have partial free range access to graze on grass. As a result, the highest ingredient rating that can be awarded is a Good (8/10) rating.
This liquid marinade used here is comprised of water, healthy distilled vinegar, super healthy sesame seed oil, and an unknown brand of soy sauce.
Some healthy ingredients added are garlic powder, sesame seeds, cayenne pepper, soy sauce, onion powder, and black pepper.
The sugar level is acceptable at 2 grams of sugar per 28 grams of jerky. The salt level is very high at 700mg of salt per 28 grams of jerky to lose a rating. Our preference is 350mg of salt or less per 28 grams of jerky.
Unhealthy sodium nitrate is used as a preservative to lose a rating. Admirably, this jerky has no MSG added.

STEVIE G JERKY – TANGY TERIYAKI BEEF JERKY
Written by guest jerky reviewer Paul Rekker
When I open the bag I smell nothing. It is basically odorless. The pieces look chopped and formed (extruded), just as you said. The jerky strips are uniform in size and thickness, they are relatively large and sliced to a medium thickness. The jerky is soft and very pliable, not as I would have hoped.
When I bite into the jerky I am met with salt at a high level, which I personally like. The sweetness is well within reason, not ridiculously high like most other teriyaki flavors, which is a good thing. I also detect medium pepper, light garlic, and light onion in the background. I also detect a slight tang, as advertised. It also tastes chopped and formed. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but certainly not 10/10 worthy.
This is turning out to be a very pedestrian tasting flavor, not great, but not sh*t either, more like a 7 or 8/10, but I’m more inclined to rate it at a 7/10. Gentlemen?
Here is what Mark had to say about this Tangy Teriyaki chopped and formed beef jerky flavor from Stevie G Jerky: “Thanks Paul for the candid taste review. I only agree with Paul that the sweetness level is within reason, especially for a teriyaki flavor. When I read the ingredient list, I knew this had the potential to be a winner. This Tangy Teriyaki flavor did not disappoint a single bit. There is a delicious, wonderfully well-defined taste profile that leaves you wanting more.”
“Paul described this flavor as being pedestrian. He could not be further from the truth. This Tangy Teriyaki flavor is world class. Sesame seeds and oil are amongst the most underrated ingredients to use in jerky, but as witnessed by Paul, it is not for everybody. The sesame flavor is not dominant but just a background taste. Paul historically has not been a fan of sesame in any way. This Tangy Teriyaki flavor ranks amongst the best teriyaki flavors reviewed in the last ten years. A very enthusiastic two thumbs up!!👍👍 Take a bow Stevie G Jerky.”
“With Paul at a 7 rating and myself at a solid 10 rating, a Very Good (9/10) taste rating will be awarded. “
This 2.5 ounce/71 gram bag of jerky sells online for $6.99. That’s $2.40 an ounce, which rates as a cheap price.
