Ingredient Review
Ingredients: 100% Grass-Fed Beef, Sugar, Water,
Raspberry Juice Concentrate (Red Raspberries, Salt, Spices, hardwood Smoked Sugar
100% grass-fed beef is used here, just the way nature intended. These cattle are raised ethically, meaning they are not fed growth hormones or additional antibiotics. There is also some free range access for the cattle to roam about. As a result, the ingredient rating starts at Excellent (10/10).
The liquid marinade consists of just water and healthy raspberry juice concentrate.
The only healthy ingredient added is spices.
The sugar level is high at 7 grams of sugar per 28 grams of jerky to lose a rating. Our preference is 5 grams of sugar or less per 28 grams of jerky for a sweet based flavor, as we have here. The salt level is acceptable at 290mg of salt per 28 grams of jerky.
This jerky does qualify to have no sodium nitrite or any other similar unhealthy preservatives. Admirably, this flavor does qualify to have no MSG added.

THINK JERKY – SWEET CHIPOTLE GRASS-FED BEEF JERKY
Written by guest jerky reviewer Paul Rekker
When I open the bag I smell very little, possibly just natural beef. The pieces are small to medium in size, and they are, all except for one piece, sliced rather thin. The jerky is dry and chewy, close to the way our forefathers intended. There is no oily residue.
When I bite into the jerky I am met with light salt, medium sweet, light pepper, light garlic, and, up to now, no heat from the Chipotle. Hopefully, that will come as I consume more.
The sweet I detected right away. It is sweeter than I would have liked, but it’s not overboard. The other flavors are more in the background. I have yet to detect any heat.
I have consumed more than enough of this jerky to comment on the lack of a kick. For Chipotle to be advertised, I would have expected more of a kick. I am finally picking up on a slight kick, but not enough to put it in the title. It also lacks any “Wow!” factor. For those two reasons I will rate it as an 8/10.
Here is what Mark had to say about this Sweet Chipotle grass-fed beef jerky flavor from Think Jerky: “Thanks Paul for the detailed taste review. I found the spiciness to be at a decent level. On a heat scale, it may rate a 2 out of 5 on the heat scale. I was surprised Paul never covered the raspberry aspect, which was at a moderate level. While using raspberries in jerky is pretty rare, I found it to be an excellent addition.”
“If this flavor did not contain sweet in the flavor name, I would have deducted a rating for being too sweet tasting. All in all, the level of sweetness is acceptable, and not all that distracting. Overall, the taste profile is fairly simple and well-balanced with a little bit of kick. My only minor complaint is that the beef is pedestrian tasting for grass-fed beef, lacking richness. Other than that, I have zero complaints and found this jerky to be an enjoyable treat. With Paul at an 8 and myself at a nine, a Very Good (9/10) taste rating will be awarded.”
This 2.2 ounce/62.4 gram bag of jerky was purchased for $6.49, which equates to $2.95 an ounce. That rates as a cheap price.
