The first review on FIELD TRIP will be on a 2.2 ounce/62 gram bag of their Original No. 3 flavored beef jerky. This bag was purchased at a Harris Teeter grocery store in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
The FIELD TRIP jerky brand name was created by Tom, Scott, and Matt. This brand is distributed by Provisionaire & Co., located in New York, New York. It all started when friends Tom, Scott, and Matt started making homemade jerky instead of eating the same old salty, processed jerky you see for sale everywhere. By word of mouth, their jerky proved to be very popular between friends and family. In July 2011, Tom, Scott, and Matt quit their jobs, and their FIELD TRIP jerky brand name was launched.

The cattle used is not guaranteed to be growth hormone free. Also, the cattle used is not guaranteed to have partial free range access to graze on grass. As a result, the highest ingredient rating achievable is a Good (8/10) rating.
We have a busy liquid marinade comprised of gluten free reduced sodium soy sauce, apple juice, pineapple juice, hickory liquid smoke, rice wine, and healthy red wine vinegar. Pineapples have a natural enzyme named bromelain that acts as natural meat tenderizer.
There are very healthy vegetables used such as garlic, onion, and ginger. Healthy spices such as black pepper and white pepper are also used.
The sugar level is excellent, being at only 1 gram of sugar per 28 grams of jerky. The salt level is good at only 250mg of salt per 28 grams of jerky.
As advertised, this jerky does qualify to have no sodium nitrite, or any other similar unhealthy preservatives. Instead, the main preservative used is salt. Admirably, there is also no MSG added.

Taste Review
These strips are mostly medium to small in size, and sliced to a medium thickness. There is a great dry texture that is reasonably easy to chew. There are no visible signs of fat, and handling this jerky leaves no oily residue on your fingers.
The first taste detected is a moderate soy flavor. It does take long for the garlic taste to become apparent, and to a lesser level with the onion. There is some tanginess from the apple and pineapple juices. This jerky is only mildly salty, and finishes with a hickory smoke flavor.
As an added bonus, there is a good mild peppered level. With this jerky not being sweet tasting, as a result, there is a good deal of natural beef flavor. Overall, a great combination of flavors.
This 2.2 ounce/62 gram bag was purchased for $4.99, which works out to $2.27 an ounce. That rates as an average price. We absolutely recommend this jerky as being worth your money.
Excellent (10/10) – Taste Rating
Bag Review
This resealable plastic bag is unusual in that it opens from top to bottom, rather than opening lengthwise. Everything is imprinted directly on the bag, both the front and back. There are no labels affixed to this bag.
The design portrays a healthy product with a cow on grass in the wild with mountains and clouds in the background. Their slogan is “Artisan Crafted Provisions”. Other facts printed on this bag are “All Natural Gluten Free”, “No Preservatives”, “No Added MSG”, “No Nitrites”, “No Corn Syrup”, “Good Source of Protein”, “Top Round Beef”, “Natural Smoke Flavoring Added”, “Low Fat”, “Minimally Processed, no Artificial Ingredients”, and “Like us on Facebook”.
The only minor bag category missing is the jerky weight not stated in grams. Their other flavors are advertised on the back, where it seems surprising that not more jerky makers would do this. On the back, there is a great blurb about FIELD TRIP and this Original No. 3 flavor.
