Ingredient Review
Ingredients: Beef, Soy Sauce (Water, Wheat, Soybeans, Salt), Brown Sugar, Garlic, Spice, Vinegar, Liquid Smoke. Allergen Warnings: Soy, Wheat
Sierra Madre Provision Co. uses ranch raised beef, which means the cattle have free range access to graze on grass. The cattle are also ethically raised, meaning that the cows received no growth hormones or additional antibiotics. As a result, the ingredient rating starts a Very Good (9/10) rating.
The liquid marinade used here contains a decent brand of soy sauce, healthy vinegar, and liquid smoke.
There is no nutrition facts table provided. As a result, the exact sugar and salt levels are unknown. Based on taste alone, the sugar and salt levels seem reasonable.
This jerky does qualify to be sodium nitrite free, or have any other unhealthy similar preservatives. Instead, salt is the main preservative used, and vinegar to a lesser extent. Admirably, this jerky does qualify to have no MSG added.

Taste Review
Written by guest jerky reviewer Paul Rekker
When I open the bag, I believe I smell a juice of some kind, not sure yet which one. The jerky is soft and dry, and is rather chewy. The jerky strips are very dark in nature, which I believe means it is duly saturated in marinade.
When I bite into the first strip, wow, it’s giving me my jerky mojo back. It Is quite the tasty jerky. I taste salt, pepper, reasonably strong garlic, and not too much sweet (thank goodness), along with a minor/mild kick, not strong, but just noticeable enough to enhance the overall flavor of this jerky. The juice, I’m guessing, is pineapple juice.
Yummy, this is an enticing flavor of jerky. Remember that commercial on TV, where the boy says “Mr. Christie, you make good cookies”, well, we can say ”Sierra Madre Provision Co., you make good jerky.” Two thumbs up gentlemen!!! 👍👍
Here is what Stéphane had to say: “The Sierra Madre Prevision Company Sweet Garlic Beef Jerky is darn right tasty. The kicked up taste of garlic is absolute deliciousness. There is a slight spicy bite and it’s well complemented with a tad of sweetness. A hint of smokiness does bring character and richness to the product. I can only speak good things about this addictive little gem.”
Here is what Mark had to say about this sweet garlic beef jerky flavor from Sierra Madre Provision Co. “This flavor comes across as advertised, sweet but not too sweet, and a decent level of delicious garlic. The only very minor issue that I have is that the sweetness and garlic levels are not entirely consistent from strip to strip, bite to bite. An ever so slightly spicy flavor is also detected, and it does appear as if there is a pineapple juice flavor present.
This jerky was shared between 10 different people, and all of the feedback was positive with no complaints. I heard ‘yummy’ more than once. Here are the official ratings between the Group of Seven (Mark – 9, Paul – 10, Stéphane – 10, Nolan – 8, Mark M. – 9, Sid – 8, Ava – 7.75)”.
This 3.25 ounce/92 gram bag sells online for $6.99, which works out to $1.84 an ounce. That rates as a pretty cheap price. Free shipping is offered on orders over $49.

Bag Review
This is a fairly tall bag. The front is gold colored, and the back is silver colored with nothing on the back. There is a label affixed to the front, plus a separate sticker that states “Sweet Garlic”. The scenic picture on this bag depicts mountains, including a few California palm trees.
There are no slogans printed on this bag. The only fact printed on this bag is “Liquid Smoke Flavoring Added”.
There are a few bag categories missing, such as a blurb about Sierra Madre Provision Co. and a nutrition facts table. Kudos to Sierra Madre Provision Co., where they provide a toll free phone number for customer inquiries.
