Friday, October 2, 2020 Leave a Comment

Bronco Billy's - Traditional Beef StickStoney Point Farm Market is a family-owned and operated country farmers market with three generations having over 85 years of experience in providing wholesome goods – primarily fresh cut meats, locally grown produce, and prepared food and specialty items. Plus, Stoney Point Farm Market is 50% woman-owned with an SQF Level 3 USDA facility.

Stoney Point Farm Market takes great pride in having an extremely loyal customer base who appreciates its wide variety of offerings, competitive prices, and friendly service. Their farmer’s markets are conveniently located 1.5 miles southwest of Littlestown, Pennsylvania, on Route 194 South, and in The Markets at Hanover on Broadway in Hanover, PA, less than ten miles away from the Gettysburg National Military Park!

This Bronco Billy’s Beef Jerky brand name was trademarked in 2006. Bronco Billy’s Beef Jerky was started by Joseph Arcuri, who has passed away a few years ago. In partnership with his wife, Kathy Arcuri, Stoney Point Inc. has expanded and pushed the brand in its current growth, from 50 pounds a week to 10,000 pounds a week.

This Bronco Billy’s Beef Jerky brand is advertised to use USDA beef. Bronco Billy’s Beef Jerky is distributed under the name of Stoney Point Inc., and they are located in Littlestown, Pennsylvania.

The next review on Bronco Billy’s Beef Jerky will focus on a 2.2 ounce/62 gram bag of their traditional flavored beef stick. This meat stick was graciously submitted for review by Administrative Assistant Amanda Fowler.

Ingredient Review

Ingredients: Beef & Seasoning (Salt, Corn Syrup Solids, Spices, Garlic), Vinegar, Citric Acid, Dextrose, Sodium Nitrite, In Colored Collagen Casing.

Bronco Billy's - Traditional Beef StickThe beef used is ethically raised, meaning it is guaranteed to be free of growth hormones and additional antibiotics. The cattle have at least partial free range access to roam about and graze on grass the way nature intended. As a result, the highest ingredient rating awarded is a Very Good (9/10) rating.

Some healthy ingredients are added, such as spices and garlic.

There is no nutrition facts table provided. As a result, the exact sugar and salt levels are unknown.

Colored Collagen Casing that contains an artificial color to lose a rating.

This meat stick does not qualify to have any sodium nitrite added as sodium nitrite is used outright as a preservative to lose a rating. Admirably, this meat stick does qualify to have no MSG added.

Taste Review

Bronco Billy’s – Traditional Beef Stick

Written by guest jerky reviewer Paul Rekker

When I cut open the package, I smell soy and vinegar. The meat stick (pepperette) looks like any other meat stick. There is no oily residue on the meat stick.

The first flavors I encounter are salt, at a high level, which I like, pepper, garlic, natural beef, and vinegar. The meat stick is quite bloody tasty, I am enjoying it immensely. It is definitely a few cuts above your average meat stick. The only small issue I am having with this meat stick is there is no “snap” from the collagen casing around the meat stick.

This meat stick is otherwise spectacular, succulent and addictive, and hard to put down. A definitive 9/10, and if the stick has a “snap”, we’d be insisting on a 10/10. Gentlemen, over to you…

Here is what Mark had to say about this Traditional beef stick flavor from Bronco Billy’s Beef Jerky: “Thanks Paul for the enthusiastic taste review. I could not have said it better myself. Sure this is a great-tasting beef stick, but there is pretty much no ‘snap’ to this texture at all. Tastewise it is a solid 10 taste rating, but keeping with tradition a rating will be deducted.

“Due to COVID-19, the Group of Seven is down to just three for this review. Mark M. was at a 9 rating also due to the lack of ‘snap’. It is unanimous that a 9 taste rating is warranted. Take a bow Stoney Point for yet another fantastic product.”

This 2.2 ounce/62 gram beef stick sells online for a $2.99 in Stoney Point Farm Market stores, which works out to $1.36 an ounce. That rates at a cheap price.

Very Good (9/10) – Taste Rating

Bag Review

This non-resealable clear plastic bag is vacuum-sealed, the best way to keep a meat stick fresh tasting. There is a label affixed to the front and nothing on the back. The Bronco Billy’s Beef Jerky logo is the cowboy Yosemite Sam shooting two guns into the sky.

There are no slogans printed on this bag. The only fact printed is “Made in USA”.

The only bag category missing is a nutrition facts table. Commendably, a phone number is provided for customer inquiries.

Decent (7/10) – Bag Rating
