Vic Guido teamed up with Richard Cresswell in 2014 to create Red Truck Beef Jerky – a small, family-owned business that sustainably sources premium cuts of whole-muscle beef shoulder, right here in the USA. The result is the most tender and lean jerky on the market. For the past five years, they’ve focused almost exclusively on making their products accessible in physical stores. Today you can find them in Dick’s Sporting Goods, Kroger’s, Giant, GetGo, Ace Hardware, and many more spots. 10% of their online proceeds to Wounded Warrior Project.
In 2020, they were just starting on their direct-to-consumer, online journey but are myopically focused on their customer’s experience. They’re coming to you directly so that they can serve you and engage with you more meaningfully. From engaging with them on social platforms to devouring their delicious products, your success is their success.

RED TRUCK BEEF JERKY – SEA SALT & PEPPER VENISON PORK STICK
Written by guest jerky reviewer Paul Rekker
When I bite open the packaging I smell nothing. The meat stick looks just like any other meat stick, including the hue.
When I bite into the meat stick I am met with a number of flavors. I detect salt, at a great level, pepper, also at a decent level, sweet, but not too sweet, along with vinegar and garlic, as well as other spices and juices that I cannot put my finger on, but WOW!!, what a cavalcade of delectable flavors all melting together to make a delicious tasting meat stick.
I have tried venison before, but I cannot discern whether it is venison or not. I am not familiar enough with the flavor to be able to pick it out. If I have one minor issue with this meat stick, it is that the collagen casing is missing a noticeable ‘snap’, but outside of that I have no complaints, only praise. I would be comfortable with at least a 9/10, but would not take issue with a 10/10. Gentlemen?

The Red Truck Venison with Pork, Salt & Pepper Meat Stick has an enjoyable amount of acidity/sourness. The meat stick has a reasonably clean taste, however, the venison is hardly noticeable. The black pepper flavor is also very light. This meat stick tastes good, and from its description on the wrapper, it does not really meet one’s expectations.
I find this meat stick disappoints on expectations, it still makes up in flavor, and it is tasty. There is no real snap to speak of while biting into the meat stick and this is also unfortunate.
I’d rate The Red Truck Venison with Pork Salt and Pepper Meat Stick between 8 and 9/10 Taste Rating. I am comfortable with either ratings or anything in between.
Here is what Mark had to say about this sea salt & pepper venison pork stick flavor from Red Truck Beef Jerky: “Thanks Paul and Stéphane for the honest taste reviews. I agree with a lot of points mentioned by both of you. True that overall, this is a great tasting meat stick. Also true that the flavor of venison is not all that present mixed in with the pork but enough to not justify a rating deduction as the FDA forces jerky makers to add another meat. The complete lack of ‘snap’ in the texture is enough to warrant a taste rating deduction. I am siding with Stéphane here in that I was not able to detect much black pepper also. If this flavor were named original, there would be no problem.”
“Therefore due to the lack of ‘snap’ and black pepper, a Good (8/10) taste rating will be awarded. Strictly speaking, tastewise this venison meat stick does justify a 9 or 10 taste rating. The 8 rating awarded is only due to technicalities.”
Red Truck Beef Jerky sells online a box of twelve 1 ounce/28 gram box of meat sticks for $19.45. That equates to $1.62 an ounce, which rates at a cheap price.
