Ingredient Review
Ingredients: Venison, Water, Ginger Beer, Spices, Pomegranate Sauce (Glucose, Pomegranate Concentrate, Citric Acid, Caramel Color), Salt, Cultured Dextrose, Dehydrated Pineapple, Garlic, Sodium Nitrite, Natural Smoke.
Venison meat is leaner and healthier compared to beef. The venison is raised ethically, meaning they are not administered growth hormones or additional antibiotics. They also have some free range access to graze on grass, and roam about, just as nature intended. As a result, the ingredient rating starts at Excellent (10/10).
The liquid marinade is comprised of just water, ginger beer, and pomegranate sauce.
Some healthy ingredients added are spices, pineapple juice powder, and garlic.
The sugar level is very low at 1 grams of sugar per 85 grams of jerky. The salt level is acceptable at 780mg of salt per 85 grams of jerky.
This jerky does not qualify to have no sodium nitrite added as sodium nitrite is used outright to lose a rating. Admirably, this jerky does qualify to have no MSG added.
Very Good (9/10) – Ingredient Rating

BERBICIAN ROYAL FOODS – HAWAIIAN INFUSED HALAL VENISON JERKY
Written by guest jerky reviewer Paul Rekker
When I open the bag I believe I am smelling both soy and vinegar. The pieces are medium in size, and they are sliced thin. The jerky is dry and easy to chew, and it is close to perfect in every respect in my opinion. There is no oily residue left on your fingers.
When I bite into the jerky, I immediately taste the salt at a decent level, but not overboard. The sweet is faintly apparent but again at a favourable level. I love the texture of this jerky. I also taste garlic, and I believe I also taste soy and vinegar. I may also be detecting some faint onion. I must not forget to mention the awesome level of pepper that I am tasting.
This particular flavour of jerky resonates very favourably in my opinion. My palette is duly impressed. I’m not sure what is meant by the Hawaiian infused aspect of this jerky, it doesn’t really make sense to me. Only for that reason can I find any impetus to deduct a point, but I’m hesitant to deduct any points because this jerky tastes so damn good.
All things considered, I cannot award this jerky anything but a perfect 10/10.
Here is what Mark had to say about this Hawaiian Infused beef jerky flavour from Berbician Royal Foods: “Thanks Paul for the enthusiastic taste review. I do not quite share the same level of enthusiasm here. The taste of venison is subtle, with no hint of gaminess flavour. There is hardly a Hawaiian infused flavour present. It is true that there is a great level of black pepper, and the saltiness is mild tasting. The garlic is light tasting, and the onion is faint. Overall, an enjoyable flavour but nothing stands out. With Paul at a 10 rating and myself at an 8 rating, a Very Good (9/10) taste rating will be awarded.”
This 3 ounce/85 gram bag of jerky cost $18.00. That works out to $6.00 an ounce, which rates as a very expensive price.
Very Good (9/10) – Taste Rating
