The next review on Beretta will focus on a 1.7 ounce/50 gram bag of their original flavoured beef jerky. We already reviewed this flavor, where the bag design has since changed. This original flavour is described as being full of exceptional beefy flavour, naturally smoked to give it a full flavour, and unique to the jerky market. The bag was submitted for review by the Beretta Farms team.
Beretta is distributed by Beretta Farms, and they are located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. In 1992, newlyweds Mike and Cynthia Beretta purchased their first farm in rural Ontario, with no prior farming experience. The focus was to raise and grow everything organically. After 1996, the ‘Beretta Butcher Shop’ was opened. By 1999, Cynthia realized that they needed to be closer to an urban area, and bought a farm closer to Toronto, Ontario. Over the next decade, the popularity of animals raised organically, growth hormone free, grass-fed, etc. grew to the point where Beretta Farms could not keep up with demand. They reached out to ranching families across Canada, primarily in Western Canada, to raise Beretta animals using the same practices and values. Today, Beretta is compromised of over 40 multi-generational and family owned ranches. Beef jerky is just one of many products sold.
Ingredient Review
Ingredients: Beef, Sea Salt, Cultured Celery Juice Powder, Smoke.
Beretta’s antibiotic & hormone free products are raised the way nature intended them to be. These animals are never needled, enjoy a vegetarian feed, and are part of a sustainable program from conception to consumption. They always have access to the outdoors and clean drinking water. As a result, the highest ingredient rating that can be awarded is Very Good (9/10).
There is no liquid marinade used, where you could call this old fashioned jerky, or a dry rub.
The sugar level is perfect at 0 grams of sugar. The salt level is somewhat high at around 392mg of salt per 28 grams of jerky. However, the salt level is negated because healthy minimally processed sea salt is used.
This jerky qualifies to have no sodium nitrite, or any other similar unhealthy preservative. Instead, sea salt is the main preservative used, and to a lesser degree cultured celery juice powder. With more kudos to Beretta Farms, this jerky has no MSG added.

Taste Review
Written by guest jerky reviewer Stéphane Leclerc
The aroma of the Beretta Original Beef Jerky strips is plainly and simply an exquisite fragrance of pure natural beef flavor.
This High Quality and delicious Canadian Angus beef is raised without the use of any Antibiotic or Hormone. This jerky is also gluten free, soy free and free of any nitrates other than those naturally occurring in the celery juice. Beretta is proud to boast their Beef Jerky is naturally smoked for full flavor without any chemicals or preservatives.
On my first bite, I was hit with an abundant, clean and exceptionally great tasting natural beefy flavor. This beef is packed with a deep and full richness and a delicate buttery taste. This is pure enjoyment and it clearly sets it apart from most beef jerky out there. A nice little smokiness and saltiness are a welcome addition.
These strips of jerky are small to medium in size. The jerky is sliced to a medium thickness and thicker in some cases. The meat possesses a bit of a red hue and it is simply related to the celery juice powder used as a natural preservative. The texture is more soft and tender, where these strips take a little effort to chew. There are little wads of fat visible and they actually accentuate the natural beef flavor and its texture. I really enjoyed these desirable little pockets of fat, as it almost feels like winning the lottery jackpot each time I bite into one.
The flavor profile is quite simple, as it really showcases the flavor of the meat and highlights the richness and decadence of a true Beretta jerky gem. This jerky is by all means extremely addictive. We’ve each consumed our individual portion in no time flat, even while trying to exercise some constraint. It was pretty much a fiasco waiting to happen like Kirstie and Oprah standing in front of the counter at Dunkin Donuts.
In an attempt to find some Beretta Jerky, I recently visited about a dozen local stores and supermarkets. I frantically ran up and down the aisles like a junky looking for a quick fix. Unfortunately, I was unsuccessful and it’s probably fair to say that it’d be safer to order online at this time.
In conclusion, this is a simple jerky no fuss, no muss. It perfectly showcases the amazing flavor of Great Canadian Angus beef. This is by all mean a wonderful jerky in every sense of the word and it can stand tall against all the best of them.
I was probably hit by Jerky Cupid’s arrow and I am totally in love with this delicious Beretta Original Beef Jerky. It is rich in great tasting beef with an exquisite buttery finish. It is made of Great Canadian Angus beef and it is minimally processed with very few ingredients and no chemicals.
We highly recommend this jerky to anybody who appreciates the beautiful flavor of natural beef. It is clear that any fan of delicious tasting beef will be absolutely elated with this jerky. We unanimously and enthusiastically rated this jerky an Excellent 10/10 taste rating and I’d probably give it 12/10 if I could.
A box of 8x 1.7 ounce/50 gram bags of jerky sells online for $44.95. That works out to $3.19 an ounce, which rates as an expensive price.
