The next review on Bronco Billy’s Beef Jerky will focus on a 1 ounce/28 gram bag of their jalapeno flavored pork beef stick. This meat stick was graciously submitted for review by Administrative Assistant, Amanda Fowler.
Ingredients: Beef & Pork, Seasoning (Salt, Corn Syrup Solids, Spices, Dehydrated Garlic), Sodium Lactate, Non Fat Dry Milk, Encapsulated Citric Acid, Jalapeno, Liquid Smoke, Sodium Erythorbate, Sodium Nitrite.
The beef and pork used is ethically raised, meaning it is guaranteed to be free of growth hormones and additional antibiotics. Also, the cattle have at least partial free range access to roam about, and graze on grass the way nature intended. As a result, the highest ingredient rating that can be awarded is a Very Good (9/10) rating.
There is no nutrition facts table provided. As a result, the exact sugar and salt levels are unknown.
This meat stick does not qualify to have no sodium nitrite added as sodium nitrite is used outright, along with sodium erythorbate, and sodium lactate to lose a rating. Admirably, this meat stick does qualify to have no MSG added.
BRONCO BILLY’S – JALAPENO PORK BEEF STICK
Written by guest jerky reviewer Paul Rekker
When I bite off the plastic to open the meat stick, I hold the meat stick to my nose, but (not surprisingly) do not smell anything.
When I bite into the meat stick, I am met with various flavors, such as salt, pepper, garlic and the unmistakable flavor of jalapeño, it is coming through as described.
The meat stick I find to be a little lacking in the solidity department, I would prefer exerting a little more effort to bite into the meat stick, but that is not the case here. I’m not sure that this is grounds for docking a point, or just a personal choice, but this meat stick is coming through a little bit softer than I would like. Either way, the flavor is bang-on, it is a strong jalapeño flavor, one that does not disappoint. Therefore, I am inclined to award this flavor as a 10/10.
Here is what Mark had to say about this jalapeno beef pork stick flavor from Bronco Billy’s Beef Jerky: “Thanks Paul for the great taste review. I am in pretty much exact agreement here with Paul. Due to COVID-19, the group of seven is down to just Paul and I for this review.”
The jalapeno aspect of this flavor comes across nicely. There is lack of ‘snap’ here while chewing this texture, enough to warrant docking a taste rating. Otherwise, a great tasting product at an affordable price.”
This non-resealable clear plastic bag is vacuum sealed, the best way to keep a meat stick fresh tasting. There is a label affixed to the front, and nothing on the back. The Bronco Billy’s Beef Jerky logo is of the cowboy Yosemite Sam shooting two guns into the sky.
There are no slogans or facts printed on this bag.
Some bag categories missing are no best before date, and no nutrition facts table. There is a batch number printed, which could translate to a best before date. Commendably, a phone number is provided for customer inquiries.
