Stoney Point Premium Meat Snacks – Pineapple Teriyaki Beef Jerky

Sunday, September 13, 2020 Leave a Comment

Stoney Point Premium Meat Snacks - Pineapple Teriyaki Beef JerkyStoney Point Farm Market is a family-owned and operated country farmers market with three generations and over 85 years of experience providing wholesome goods – primarily fresh cut meats, locally grown produce, and prepared food and specialty items. Plus, Stoney Point Farm Market is 50% woman-owned with an SQF Level 3 USDA facility.

Stoney Point Farm Market takes great pride in having an extremely loyal customer base who appreciate its wide variety of offerings, competitive prices, and friendly service. Their farmer’s markets are conveniently located 1.5 miles southwest of Littlestown, Pennsylvania, on Route 194 South, and in The Markets at Hanover on Broadway in Hanover, PA, and less than ten miles away from the Gettysburg National Military Park!

The Stoney Point Premium Meat Snacks jerky brand was created to give back to the military. Out of every pound sold, they donate a dollar to active-duty troops overseas and usually send around 5,000 dollars worth of jerky every December abroad. Half-lb packages are sold for fundraisers at $8.50 a bag, and they sell them from 11 to 16 dollars. Stoney Point Premium Meat Snacks is distributed under the name of Stoney Point Inc., and they are located in Littlestown, Pennsylvania.

The next review on Stoney Point Premium Meat Snacks will focus on an 8 ounce/227 gram bag of their Pineapple Teriyaki flavored beef jerky. This jerky was kindly submitted for review by Amanda Fowler.

Ingredient Review

Ingredients: Beef, Tamari Sauce (Water, Salt, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Corn Syrup, Potassium Sorbate), Brown Sugar, Smoke Flavor, Spices, Pineapple juice, Honey, Caramel Color, Cultured Dextrose.    Allergen Warnings: Soy

Stoney Point Premium Meat Snacks - Pineapple Teriyaki Beef JerkyThe beef used is ethically raised, meaning it is guaranteed to be free of growth hormones and additional antibiotics. The cattle have at least partial free range access to roam about and graze on grass the way nature intended. As a result, the highest ingredient rating awarded is a Very Good (9/10) rating.

Stoney Point Premium Meat Snacks - Pineapple Teriyaki Beef JerkyThe liquid marinade is comprised of only a good brand of gluten-free tamari soy sauce, healthy honey, and healthy pineapple juice.

A healthy ingredient added is spices.

The sugar level is acceptable at 4 grams of sugar per 28 grams of jerky for a sweet based flavor as we have here. The salt level is sort of high at 430mg of salt per 28 grams of jerky to lose a rating. Our preference is 350mg of salt or less per 28 grams of jerky.

This jerky qualifies to have no sodium nitrite or any other similar unhealthy preservative added. This jerky does not qualify to have no MSG added as the unhealthy, highly processed flavor enhancer hydrolyzed soy protein is used to lose another rating.

Decent (7/10) – Ingredient Rating

STONEY POINT PREMIUM MEAT SNACKS – PINEAPPLE TERIYAKI BEEF JERKY

Written by guest jerky reviewer Paul Rekker

When I open the bag I smell the traditional teriyaki smell. The pieces are medium in size and are sliced rather thin. The jerky is soft and chewy, and it leaves a little oily residue on your fingers. It is a dark hue, which makes me think it is drenched in the marinade, which is not necessarily bad.

The first flavors I encounter are salt, sweet, sour (pineapple juice?), pepper, garlic, onion, and some natural beef in the background. So far, the teriyaki flavor is coming through quite well, without dominating the flavors.

I’m on to my second strip of jerky, and it is consistently teriyaki(ish), but not too sweet to sully the flavor entirely. The jerky is quite tasty for a teriyaki flavor, definitely not typically my favorite flavor, but this one is a cut above. Not ‘blow me away’ tasty, but tasty enough to rate higher than your normal teriyaki flavored jerky. A 9/10 gentlemen.

Here is what Mark had to say about this Pineapple Teriyaki beef jerky flavor from Stoney Point Premium Meat Snacks: “Thanks Paul for the honest taste review. I largely agree with your taste review. The pineapple flavor comes across in spades. For that matter, this a delightful teriyaki flavor as well minus the Asian flair. The honey is a great addition to make it sweeter tasting, but not being a too sweet taste, a pet peeve of ours.”

“Due to COVID-19, we are down to Paul and me for this taste review. I was at a 10 taste rating, where this flavor delivers on both the teriyaki and pineapple aspects. I cannot really think of a single thing to improve this flavor other than having fresh garlic, onion, and ginger (personal biases). With Paul at a solid 9 taste rating, a Very Good (9/10) taste rating it is.”

This 8 ounce/227 gram bag of jerky sells at the Stoney Point Farm Market stores for $13.00, which rates at a pretty cheap price.

Bag Review

This clear non-resealable bag has labels affixed to the front and back. The Stoney Point Premium Meat Snacks logo has two knives crossed, and pictures of a horse, elk, and wild boar heads. This bag is vacuum-sealed, the best possible way to keep jerky fresh tasting.

There is no slogan printed on this bag. The only fact printed is “Made in USA.”

The only bag categories missing are the bag not being resealable and no best before date. Commendably, a phone number is provided for customer inquiries. A small blurb is printed about Stoney Point Premium Meat Snacks.

Decent (7/10) – Bag Rating
