Atwood Heritage is a family owned Canadian meat snack company with roots dating back to the 1950s, when founder Noah Martin began crafting traditional summer sausage recipes. Today, the company continues to produce handcrafted snack sticks, pepperoni, salami, and summer sausage using time tested fermentation and cold smoking methods that have been refined over more than 60 years. After Jonathan and Marie Ropp acquired the business in 2011, Atwood Heritage expanded its product lineup while remaining committed to traditional craftsmanship and opened a federally inspected production facility in 2018.
In addition to its classic beef and pork offerings, the brand has become well known for its grass fed Angus beef snack sticks and a unique selection of game meat varieties, including bison, elk, venison, wild boar, and kangaroo. Atwood Heritage emphasizes high protein, shelf stable meat snacks made with natural ingredients, minimal additives, and no fillers or binders, appealing to consumers looking for premium Canadian made meat snacks with authentic, old world flavor. This Atwood Heritage brand name is distributed under the same name Atwood Heritage, and is located in Atwood, Ontario, Canada.

Ingredient Review
Ingredients: Grass Fed Black Angus Beef, Water, Sugar (Maple Syrup), Sea Salt, Spices, Cultured Celery Powder, Starter Culture, Olive Oil, Natural Wood Smoke.
The black Angus beef used is ethically raised, meaning it is guaranteed to be free of growth hormones and additional antibiotics. The cattle have partial free range access to roam about and graze on grass as nature intended. As a result, the highest ingredient rating that can be awarded is a Very Good (9/10) rating.
The only healthy ingredients added are spices.
The sugar level is low at 1 gram of sugar per 25 grams of beef stick. The salt level is acceptable at 270mg of salt per 25 grams of beef stick.
This beef stick does qualify to have no sodium nitrite. Instead, sea salt is the main preservative, and to a lesser degree cultured celery powder. Admirably, this beef stick does qualify to have no MSG added.

ATWOOD HERITAGE – HOT GRASS FED BEEF STICKS
Written by guest pemmican reviewer Paul Rekker
When I open the bag I smell vinegar, and nothing else. The beef stick looks pretty much exactly like any other meat stick. The meat stick is more rigid than most, and it has a slight oiliness.
When I bite into the meat stick, I am very pleasantly surprised that there is a discernible “snap” to it. Very rare indeed. I taste salt, at a similar degree to most meat sticks, intense but not extreme. I taste little to no sweetness, closer to no sweet. I taste decent pepper, mild garlic, along with light onion. The heat is coming through to a decent degree, very tasty indeed.
My oh my, this meat stick is “da bomb”!! A very tasty beef stick, which is hitting on all cylinders. A very emphatic, no-brainer 10/10, more if I could. Gentlemen?
Here is what Mark had to say about this Hot grass fed beef stick flavor from Atwood Heritage: “Thanks Paul for the enthusiastic taste review. I agree with everything stated. The heat is at a good level, which would rate at a 2 out of 4 on a heat scale. As Paul noted, the texture has a decent snap to it.”
“One positive aspect of this grass fed beef stick is that it has a clean taste profile. Everything tastes wholesome and is accentuated by a sour, vinegary heat. Thankfully, there is minimal sweetness present This beef stick is highly enjoyable, where I cannot identify a single issue. A well-deserved, unanimous Excellent (10/10) taste rating will be awarded. Take a bow Atwood Heritage, a very enthusiastic two thumbs up!!👍👍”
This 4.4 ounce/125 gram bag of beef stick was sold for $12.99. That works out to $2.95 an ounce, which rates as an expensive price.

Bag Review
This black and white plastic bag has everything affixed to the front and nothing on the back. There is an illustration of a family in the front of a barn. The bag is vacuum sealed, which is the best way to keep the beef stick fresh tasting.
A slogan printed on this bag could be “Since 1962”. Some facts printed are “Sausage Sticks
, “No Added Color or Artificial Ingredients”, “100% Natural”, High in Fat”, “High in Sodium”, “Gluten Free”, “Dairy Free”, “High Protein”, “Fermented & Cold-Smoked”, Family Owned”, “Traditional Authentic”, “Dry Cured”, and “Grass Fed Beef”.
The only missing bag category is a blurb about the beef stick or flavour. As per Canadian law, French translations are provided.
