The next review on Chomps will focus on a 1.15 ounce/32 gram bag of their Jalapeno flavored grass fed beef stick. The ingredient and bag have been tweaked since we last reviewed their Jalapeno flavor in 2018. This flavor is described as being made with real jalapeño peppers, not a cheap powder, for just the right amount of kick! This 1.15 ounce/32 gram bag was purchased at a store in Clinton Towns, Michigan.
Ingredient Review
Ingredients: 100% Grass-Fed Beef, Water, Sea Salt, Encapsulated Lactic Acid, Jalapeno Peppers, Cultured Celery Powder (Celery Powder, Sea Salt), Black Pepper, Red Pepper, Garlic Powder, Coriander, Stuffed in a Beef Collagen Casing.
This beef stick uses 100% grass-fed beef, the way nature intended. These cattle imported from Tasmania are raised ethically, meaning they are not fed growth hormones or additional antibiotics. There is also some free range access for the cattle to roam about. As a result, the highest ingredient rating that can be awarded is Excellent (10/10).
Some healthy ingredients added are garlic powder, black pepper, red pepper, and coriander. The heat in this flavor comes from the jalapeno peppers. Hot peppers are healthy if eaten in moderation, which flushes toxins out of the body.
The sugar level is perfect at 0 grams of sugar per 32 grams of meat stick. The salt level is respectable at 290mg of salt per 32 grams of meat stick.
This meat stick does qualify to have no sodium nitrite or any other similar unhealthy preservatives. Instead, the main preservatives used are minimally processed sea salt and cultured celery juice with its naturally occurring nitrates. Admirably, there is no MSG added.
Excellent (10/10) – Ingredient Rating
Taste Review
CHOMPS – JALAPENO GRASS FED BEEF STICK
Written by guest jerky reviewer Paul Rekker
When I bite open the bag I smell maybe only vinegar. The meat stick is bigger than your average meat stick, but it is not very rigid at all. It is basically soft and very pliable. It is also the same color as your typical meat stick.
When I bite into the meat stick I immediately notice a lack of a “snap” to the collagen casing.
The first flavors I encounter are salt, at a good level, pepper, also at a decent level, garlic, onion, vinegar, and natural beef.
As I consume more, I am picking up on the jalapeño kick, every bite makes it a little more intense. This is a spectacular tasting meat stick, lots of flavor, along with the kick, a delectable treat.
However, the lack of a “snap” to the collagen casing will force me to deduct a point. Otherwise, a 9/10 sounds accurate to me. Gentlemen?

Chomps Jalapeño Beef Stick tastes good, and I wish there would be a bit more richness and depth of flavor. I find the saltiness is light at best, and other flavors, such as some smokiness, would add a pleasant dimension to this meat stick. The aroma is fine, the texture is average, and the casing is lacking any snap.
I’ve enjoyed the jalapeño flavor; this beef stick is not too spicy, and the Jalapeño taste is front and center. I would rate this meat stick between 8 – 9/10 Taste Rating.
Here is what Mark had to say about this Jalapeno grass fed beef stick flavor from Chomps: “Thanks Stéphane and Paul for the diverging reviews. I thought Paul’s taste review was bang on. The fresh jalapeno peppers taste fantastic. I was perplexed that Stéphane did not detect more heat than he did. With each bite, the heat slowly gets stronger but does level off. On a heat scale, it’s a 2 out of 4 or a 3 out of 5. The heat level is certainly at a respectable level.”
“I did not find that the taste profile lacked richness and depth of flavor. Stéphane mentioned to me that the most prevalent flavor was fresh jalapeno peppers. Nothing wrong with that in my opinion. As noted, there was almost no ‘snap’ at all to the texture to lose a rating. Other than that, this was a very pleasurable meat stick to consume. With Stéphane at an 8.5 rating, Paul and me a 9 rating, a Very Good (9/10) taste rating will be awarded.”
This 1.15 ounce/32 gram beef stick sold for $1.99. That works out to $1.96 an ounce, which rates as a cheap price
Very Good (9/10) – Taste Rating
